Feign surprise: “Obama honors Nobel winner with statement about himself…”

One year ago, I was humbled to receive the Nobel Peace Prize — an award that speaks to our highest aspirations, and that has been claimed by giants of history and courageous advocates who have sacrificed for freedom and justice.

Hell, I’m surprised Obama didn’t show up to accept the award on behalf of Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo, who was barred by the Chinese government from attending the ceremony.

It’s almost impossible to reconcile that these two men — Obama and Xiaobo — won this exact same award in consecutive years. I wonder if the Nobel Peace Prize committee is having their own buyer’s remorse about Obama, too, like most of the rest of the world.

  1. I know you meant Nobel and not Noble, as this guy is clearly the undisputed winner of the Ignoble Award.

  2. I don’t bother paying attention to the Nobel Prize anymore. It’s become one vast sick joke. Note I’m giving it credit in being vastly more meaningful in the distant past.

  3. My dog had a dingleberry once, it too was resilient, humbled, even aspirated & giant.
