strippers

Don't forget plenty of $1 bills to tip the dancers...and don't forget your bullet proof vest and 9mm Glock, too.

A pissed-off patron at a Phoenix strip club went out to his car, came back in with a handgun, and opened fire, killing the club’s bouncer and a 20-year old club patron.

The bouncer was attempting to defend one of the working-her-way-through-medical-school dancers from the shooter, and was killed when he stepped between her and the gunman.

A couple of observations:

Gavin MacFarlane, 28, of Scottsdale, opened fire at the Great Alaskan Bush Company shortly before midnight Sunday before he ran out of ammunition and was tackled, police said.

The name of the strip club is the Great Alaskan Bush Company? Seriously? Sounds like an incredibly classy joint.

One of the dancers, Amanda Holland, said that she saw a group of customers eventually tackle the gunman:

“There’s like three Marine guys, and like four other guys that chased the guy down I guess and just started jumping him. He (the gunman) kinda got what he deserved,” Holland said.

Gotta love Marines — when there’s the sound of guns and others are ducking for cover or running for their lives, Marines are moving in the direction of danger with the intent on ending the threat. I wouldn’t be surprised if those “like four other guys” were former Marines…

The only thing less surprising than the Marines acting to neutralize the threat was that a group of Marines was hanging out at a joint called the Great Alaskan Bush Company.

Remind Me to Stay out of Phoenix Strip Clubs

The story goes on to remind readers that this was the second fatal shooting at a Phoenix strip club over the Christmas weekend:

Just before 1 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a shots-fired call at Chi Chis Cabaret in central Phoenix and found a club security guard with multiple gunshot wounds.

A man police identified as Tekina Latu, 22, became upset after a fight between two groups and grabbed a handgun, firing several rounds at the security guard.

The guard was able to return fire. He was wearing a bulletproof vest and was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Here’s a word of advice: if the strip club (or any other establishment) you are hanging out at has a bouncer packing heat and wearing a bullet proof best…you might want to reconsider the places where you’re hanging out.

  1. I showed this to my husband…the Marine…he loved it.
Thanks Robbie :-) , your posts are classic!! LOL!

  2. good for the marines, and yeah you know what? I think If I ever have reason to travel through AZ I’ll just stay the hell out of Phoenix nightclubs unless I myself am wearing armor and a carrying a bazooka. Remember..”There Is No Such Thing As Overkill,.There Is Only Reload, and Resume Fire.”

  3. The Marine Rifleman’s mission is to close with the enemy by means of fire and maneuver in order to destroy, capture, or repel their assault by fire, close combat, and counterattack.
From the US Army Infantry mission statement but also and especially applies here.

  4. Mmm…having lived in Phoenix for a decade, the Alaskan Bush Company (pun was intended) was one of the more infamous of the numerous strip joints in the Valley. Not that we’d dare go to any shithole dive on Grand Avenue (or west of Central Avenue for that matter), but it was certainly notorious. It’s another in a long list of full nude, 18-over, no alcohol served strip clubs where nothing but trouble congregates.

I had not heard of the second place, but looking at where it sits on the map…I am not surprised at all.
