From Yahoo News:

The Texas State Legislature, while struggling to close a $15 billion dollar budget deficit without raising taxes, will also deal with the issues of sanctuary cities and protecting private property from being seized under eminent domain.

According to the Austin American Statesman, Gov. Rick Perry has declared the two issues as “emergencies” so they can move through the legislature on a fast track.

Other than Straus keeping the House Speaker seat, this legislative session is off to a good start.
