Does Rep. Peter King not read the paper or blogs? Does he not watch the news or listen to talk radio?

Did he and his handlers not hear the outrage (and the laughter) when he promoted his asinine idea to make it illegal for private citizens to come within 1000′ of Federal officials with a handgun.

According to my own internal poll, outside of Peter King and Mike Bloomberg, nobody else thinks this is a good idea. Most recognize it for what it is: cheap political opportunism:

Peter King poll

Well apparently not, because Rep. “Little” Peter King, says he’s going to push ahead with the bill — and here’s the kicker: he says he has GOP support:

King, the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said that most Republicans agree with his proposed legislatio[n].

“Yes, I expect to go forward, and it’s not a disagreement I have with many people in the Republican Party,” King said on Fox News.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he had support from capitulating RINO cowards like Rep. Chris Smith (NJ-04), Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (FL-18), and Rep. John McHugh (NY-23) — but ANY Republican who supports and votes for this idiocy needs to be primaried and defeated the next time they are up for re-election.

This person gets:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I support this law. But only as long as it applies to EVERYONE. This includes police, secret service, private security, congressional security, and the congresscritter himself. No one, and I mean NO ONE, can legally have a gun within 1000 feet of a congresscritter.

If he is really that afraid of the law abiding having guns near his precious self, his law should disarm himself, his family and his own security detail. Let him live how his constituents in NY live. Disarmed and at the mercy of those who don’t follow the laws.

Better yet, let him have his specuial kingly privledges. Even if he calls the police, they must respond unarmed to be in compliance with this law. He wants a personal gun free zone he’s got it.

  1. As I said, any member of Congress who supports gun or speech limiting speech has pinned a target on themselves for 2012. And that includes Peter King, who is a Republican I otherwise like.

After all, if they can’t trust us with freedom we can’t trust them with power.

  2. Okay, Rep. King, now we know where you stand on this issue, we would dearly love to have on record those other Republicans you claim support your misguided legislation. Please, let us see who votes for it in committee and on the floor
We patriots truly want to know who they are.

    Great comment from NRO.
