In one of the deadliest three days that officials can remember, more than 50 people were killed in Juárez.
Among the 53 victims between Thursday and Saturday were a Juárez police officer, a municipal patrolman and a state investigator.
According to Chihuahua state officials it was the most violent three-day period seen this year. State police reported that on average eight people are killed in Juárez every day.
More than 150 people have been killed in Juárez this month, according to the state police.
Since a war broke out between the Juárez and Sinaloa drug cartels in 2008, more than 7,600 people have been killed in Juárez. Last year, 3,112 people were murdered in Juárez.
But don’t worry…Janet Napolitano has assured us that our borders are secure, and that the dangers just a few meters across a sewage strewn river shouldn’t concern us. Of course, Janet doesn’t live across the street or across a narrow river from a neighborhood where more people are killed on a given weekend than are killed in a combat zone in Iraq in an entire month.
Although, according to Shannon at So It Goes in Texas, perhaps the Feds are beginning to backtrack on that claim a bit:
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) let the cat out of the bag. It seems our border with Mexico is not as safe as Homeland Security has led us to believe.

Maybe we invaded the wrong country in 2003. At least an invasion, or military assistant program, would have got us some real benefits in Mexico: a secure border, the body bags of narcos, and real reform in Mexico.

I believe Juarez is the current murder capitol of the world, and appears to be successfully defending its crown.
If all the dopers in this country would just go cold turkey, even if just for a few months, they could help curb this crime wave.

The people of the united states. but it requires doing something most would consider..criminal, at best. Might end up actually starting a war with Mexico on the bad side. OTOH maybe the latter wouldn’t be such a bad idea. After we butcher the 1st 100,000 or so people and use dumptrucks to drop them on the steps of the mexican capital and the surrounding streets..The Mexican gov’t and the cartels MIGHT take a hint.

This has been an issue for decades, yet it continues to get worse.
My question is, why is it that the politicos past and present could care less?
Because Hispanics are the fastest growing demographic in the United States. Which means voters. Which means politicians are loath to do anything — no matter how principled and correct — that might offend them. Like telling them that they and their cousins must enter our country legally and respect our borders.

If the young really want Europe, let’s make our immigration policy as strict as the Euros.
I’m to the point where I think Kinky should have won his last election, then team up with good old Willie and go on to leagalize the growth and marketing of weed. At least then we could have the tax revenue, the mexican gangs would lose some power and the pot heads over here could feel as if they support their own country. It would also give the farmers another cash crop and someone like me could buy a good hemp rope for rock climbing. I never thought I would advocate such actions but then again I never thought our gubernent would look the other way as our boarders deteriorate even further. FUBAR
