Despite the lie- and tin-foil-hat-filled protestations of Texas’ dwindling number of Democrats, the Texas House has (finally) passed the Voter ID bill ^[1]. Should be on Gov. Perry’s desk in short order after a quick vote in the Senate.

Now the Lege can get onto more the big issues of redistricting and the budget.

But before we move along, let’s take a moment to stop, point our fingers and laugh at Rep. Dawnna Dukes (Race-hustling Moron – Austin):

Rep. Dawnna Dukes, D-Austin, was among those who offered an amendment that was tabled.

When Dukes, an African American, laid out her amendment, she spoke emotionally with Rep. Jose Aliseda, R-Beeville, who opposed her from the chamber’s back microphone.

“Don’t try to make it more difficult for my people to be able to have the ability to vote,” Dukes told Aliseda, her voice rising.

My people? Doesn’t Ms. Duke also represent the non-black people in her district? I guess not, as she only seems to be fighting for the special rights of people with the same color skin. She also claimed that the bill was directly targeting two minority groups for disenfranchisement: “her people” and Hispanics. You know, because black and Mexicans are too stupid and/or lazy to go get an ID in order to vote. At least it seems that is what Ms. Dukes is insinuating.

A few weeks ago we had Eric Holder ^[2] representing “his people” — rather than living in the post-racial America his Boss promised us — and now we have Ms. Dukes doing the same.

Now…close your eyes for a second. Go ahead. I won’t steal your wallet while you’re not looking…Are they closed? Good: Now imagine that a White man had said this.
