fleebagger logoSix days ago I posted a thread, “Why The “Fleebaggers” Aren’t Needed To End Collective Bargaining.” In that thread I described a plan by Prof. Lindgren at the Volokh Conspiracy to separate the ‘collective bargaining’ aspect of Wisconsin’s SB 11 as a non-fiscal item, which would allow a simple majority of Wisconsin Senators to vote on it, as a Super Quorum was not needed. This action would negate the reason for the cowardly “fleebaggers” to remain out of state.

Well, that is exactly what happened today.

Wisconsin Senate GOP Votes to Strip State Workers of Collective Bargaining Rights.

The Senate requires a quorum to take up any measures that spend money. But Republicans on Wednesday split from the legislation the proposal to curtail union rights, and a special conference committee of state lawmakers approved that bill a short time later.

Gov. Walker had this to say after the legislative action:

“The Senate Democrats have had three weeks to debate this bill and were offered repeated opportunities to come home, which they refused,” he said in a statement.

“In order to move the state forward, I applaud the Legislature’s action today to stand up to the status quo and take a step in the right direction to balance the budget and reform the government,” he said. “The action today will help ensure Wisconsin has a business climate that allows the private sector to create 250,000 new jobs.”

I not only applaud the Senate Republicans for taking this action, I also applaud Gov. Walker for remaining steadfast during this past three week span in the face of organized protests, threats to public officials and the vulgar presence of smelly hippies and union thugs in their state capitol.

Of course the donks are unhappy about this, but I have no interest in their complaints. Now they can all pony up the cash to pay for the “fleebaggers” fines for being absent, instead of spending their cash on the “fleebaggers” guest lodging in Illinois.

So get back to where you once belonged, “fleebaggers.” Your absence was an abject failure in securing your union overlord’s privileges and those who elected you(why I don’t know) still expect you to perform the tasks of a Senator, irrespective of your wanderlust.

*P.S.* I nearly forgot to mention that in my last post I made the following statement:

I believe he has presented a winning strategy, but the question is will the WI. Gov. and GOP Senators use it?

There is some concern that the GOP Senators might be unwilling to use this tactic, but that the strategy could compel the Democrat deserters to return.

I can now say that the Gov. and the Senators did have the stones to go forward with the tactic and now there is no reason for the “fleebaggers” not to return.

*UPDATE* The losers are planning to occupy the WI. capitol building since their scam was busted in the Senate vote today. It’s the usual suspects and you can watch them on this livestream.
It never ceases to amaze me that they believe the group chanting and drum beats will actually change anything. As the socialists chants in the past few weeks have claimed “this is what democracy looks like,” I can only say I agree and that I thank God that we live in a Constitutional Republic.

  1. This is such good news, and not just for the good people of Wisconsin (shout out to all of my old friends from when I lived in Eau Claire and Antigo,,,).

But more importantly, this is a huge victory for other states who are crippled by public unions. If this can happen in Wisconsin, it can happen anywhere.

My favorite comment was from Moe Lane over at Red State, who wrote:

Well, that was a waste of my valuable time for something that was pretty much inevitable from the start. The next time, can the Democrats simply accept the concept of elections having consequences and act like adults? …Well, they can: but they won’t.

    • It most certainly is good news.
If the public unions haven’t gotten the message yet, their robbing us blind while claiming to be for working people is coming to a rapid end. Oh they will kick and scream and beat up on people who oppose them, but in the end they are done.
By the time the next election rolls around for Gov. Walker, the results from this early action in office will have shown the citizens of WI. that what they have accomplished will be to everyone’s benefit.

As for Moe’s comment, it’s a good’un, except I’m not as convinced that the donks “can” act that way.

  2. I was cheering and clapping when I got home from picking up my mother from work this evening to discover this news. Should have seen the Chrissy Matthews and Ed whatshisnuts mutual masturbationfest of outrage on Chrissy Matthews show tonight. I find it amusing. OTOH as usual I find the MASSIVE Hypocracy involved to be exceedingly offensive and annoying and wholly deserving of multiple bitchslaps to the side of the head.

  3. I’m more than proud that Gov. Walker has the testicular fortitude to stand firm, maybe America can be saved.

  4. Let’s see: non-union Texas teachers average $45K/yr in salary. Wisconsin teachers average $49K/yr in salary, minus state income tax and unions dues. Reduce that $49K by $1,000/yr in union dues and approx. $2,000 in state income tax, you have $46K left.

If you live in Austin and earn $45K/yr and move to Madison (around the same size town) you need will need to earn $47,500/yr just to have the same quality of living. Moving to Madison as a teacher would lose you $1,500/yr.

Seems to me those teachers in Wisconsin just got a raise from Walker if they don’t have to pay union dues any longer.

Oh, and Texas has a better education track record than Wisconsin as Robbie has already pointed out.

  5. As a former Union member I can say I enjoyed the slightly higher take home wage I got. But then I personally knew the owner of the company and was appalled at what they paid in addition to that. Add to that what the union required of me to keep those benefits (work so many hours per month to keep my health care) even though my employer paid into it for every hour I worked. Then add to that, the Union supports only democrats. And I was getting kinda bent over.

I personally could have done much better if my employer just paid me the full amount directly. I don’t need those Union dip-shits putting money away for my 401k or healthcare. I could have done far better on my own if paid my wage and benefits, then needing them taking their cut to do what almost any dip-shit could do for himself. They fool the workers by giving them a few bucks an hour more in take-home pay.

    • Unions aren’t needed any longer.
There was a time that they served a useful purpose, but now all the health and safety work rules are codified at the Fed and State levels. At the private level their numbers continue to shrink because employers know they have to offer more to their employees to be profitable and remain competitive. Public unions make absolutely no sense to me. Now that the privileges of the unions are threatened we now know which of the two masters they truly serve, the union and not the citizens of the state.
Just checked on the livestream and they are still occupying the Capitol and one of the people on air was showing and reading a pamphlet that is being distributed, calling for a general strike of all unions for as long as it takes to rescind this legislation. There could be a lot of job openings in WI. real soon.

  6. Awesome news. I didn’t catch it last night since I got home late. Woke up this morning and it was like Christmas. I think things will get more interesting from here. I think Gov. Walker should give them an ultimatum. Go back to work or your fired. Those that don’t return can be replaced by veterans with teaching degrees looking for work as teachers.
