While our Spectator in Chief is slapping dancing girls on the ass at Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, the US military has gone to war in Libya — MSNBC is currently debating whether or not “we can call this a war,” despite the fact that we just launched more than 100 Tomahawk missiles at Libya. Don’t know about you, but I’d consider that a declaration of war if someone lobbed even one Tomahawk missile into my backyard.
I can’t wait to see the breaking headlines: Nobel Peace Prize Winner Starts War While on Vacation in Rio. President Bush could at least make the case that Iraq presented a clear and imminent danger to the United States when we attacked Iraq. But there is simply no way for Obama to make that case against Libya.
Remember when Obama was elected, we were told that “now is the moment” the world would love the US again? Uh…so much for that:
Rubber Bullets Fly at Anti-Obama Protest in Rio (side question: is Obama the first President to ever launch a war on a foreign government [one that poses zero imminent threat to the US] while partying it up [at tax payer expense] at Carnival?):
A molotov cocktail was launched in front of the US consulate in Rio de Janeiro late Friday in protest of the arrival of President Barack Obama, the O Globo newspaper in Rio reported. Military police reacted by firing rubber bullets into the gathering of 200 at around 18:30 local time. A CBN news reporter suffered a minor injury from the shots and traffic was blocked.
Anti-Obama sentiment and protests in Rio is likely the reason Obama has canceled a scheduled public speech in Rio square, too.

Oh yeah.
I’d hit it.
B. Hussein missed out on Carnivale and he is on a family vacation.

You know what that means.
Can’t quit laughing!
Michelle’s BULGE is bigger than Barack’s. Not shocking but still disgusting.
Article One Section Eight of the US Constitution states that only Congress has the power to declare war, so we cannot accurately call it a war. But that probably does not mean much to the Libyans on the receiving end of the missiles, right? I see this action as supporting our allies and the Arab League, since Britain and France are spearheading the effort.
So what do you think the US response should be to Libya? I am torn on the issue myself. I believe military action should be a last resort and should be defensive or in response to aggression. I generally do not like getting involved in the affairs of sovereign nations, even if they are “bad”. I think we should support the Libyan rebels who are fighting for their freedom, but how far do we take it? But if we did not support them with this no-fly zone, then Qadaffi would eventually crush the rebellion and it would set a precedent for future dictators. They would know to respond to demonstrations with brutality and that the world would just stand by and let it happen. So, I dont like that outcome either.
Where do you stand on this? What is the proper response? What is our responsibility as a global leader?

Dictators the world over already know how to respond to protests with brutality. They already know that by and large the world will stand by and do nothing outside of speaking diplomatically harsh words and passing absolutely useless proclamations and sanctions in the security council..or the human rights council or hell even a full meeting of the entirety of the Useless Nitwits. Honestly, I expect Qadaffy Duck to continue on as usual. He may surprise me and back down now that shots have been fired. However, keep in mind if he does that he’ll be back to business as usual within 24mos.
I wonder ,if this were to happen in America( and I say that it could),What do you think obama would do? I think He would start killing every American so called rebel that is against him.AND , who would help the rebels here? Another country? NO! WE NEED TO STAY THE HELL OUT OF OTHER COUNTRIES . Let them fend for themselves. We need to bring home our military from all over the world and protect our homes. We need to be self sufficient again and never depend on another country for help.Any American company that is overseas should be forced to come back to America or stay forever where ever they are, with no possibilities how exorting their goods to America. SAVE AMERICA FIRST,AND GET RID OF OUR GOLF PLAYING IDIOT.
I’m not so sure that our foreign intelligence hasn’t been curtailed by this mis-administration.
Given what little information is available, do we inject ourselves into a corrupt muslim country, hoping to spare the lives of those that do not wish to be the relentless slaves of a tyrannical government or do we simply walk away?
Given the BS since 911, it’s more than tempting to just walk away. However, if there is a real possiblity of democracy, well……..how can we be sure??
While O.J. Simpson is on the links looking for the killer of his ex-wife, Obama is on the links looking for the answers to America’s problems.
Maybe I should buy a golf course and seek the meaning of life.
“Maybe I should buy a golf course and seek the meaning of life.”
Nahhh..just kick back with a 6pack of brew on the beach. Watch the sun rise and set and the waves come rolling in.
There is evil in the world.
The squishies just don’t understand that.
Yes, No2, there is evil in the world. But there is far more good in the world than evil. I am starting to think that you do not understand that.
Look at the silver lining- now that President Pantywaist is out of country, a real President with balls can run things- Hillary Clinton. Seriously, how digusted must she be that she lost to this intellectual and moral lightweight! The best place that Obama can be right now (for the next 2 years) is out being King of America, traveling the world on a goodwill tour, but not here.
Brazil’s former president had no qualms with Iran attaining nuclear weapons and was staunchly against any sort of American attempts to slow and stop that process. Brazil is one of the four rapidly expanding economic powerhouses (BRIC – Brazil, Russia, India, China), they are already the world’s 8th largest economy, and they’ve drifted away from buying American-produced products towards buying Chinese in the last few years. This has all happened under a rather Amero-skeptic president, who has since gone and has been replaced with a president far more willing to speak with us. But, we have grown apart over recent years. In this period of economic downturn, paying attention to and bargaining with this Brazilian government is very important if we are to start cutting into our trade deficit.
Why don’t you idiots look into the reasons for a presidential visit before lambasting it as some vacation? We in America have a head of government who’s also a head of state and the commander in chief. If you don’t like it, try to change it, or go somewhere else. Don’t f***ing whine. It’s unbecoming.
Oh it will change…and soon.
*facepalm*
