My lovely missus is taking a photography class at UT right now…designed to help students understand the basics of photography and how to use their cameras (my wife has this one — Nikon D80), so she’s running around snapping a bunch of pictures of…well…everything. To include these two pictures of our puppy Jersey (if you can call a 2-year old, 160lb Great Dane a puppy):

Jersey the Great Dane in the kitchen

And this is why we can't leave stuff out on the kitchen counters...

And out on the back porch:

Jersey the Great Dane on the back porch

And out on the back porch watching out for rabbits...

  1. We could never keep anything breakable on the coffee table or anything else that height from the floor because our Ridgeback, Rusty’s wagging tail would instantly clear it.
A food story: When we eat, the chairs not being used are back against the wall near the table.
Sometimes Rusty would sit up in one of those extra chairs, watching us eat.
He was very well mannered and Never uttered a sound and stayed still sitting up in the chair the whole time.
But if we were eating steak and happened to turn and look at Rusty, he’d still be sitting there as still and quiet as a statue But drops of drool would be slowly dripping from his mouth.
That killed us and we’d have to give him a few bites after that.
    He was such a sweetheart.

Jersey looks Great in that picture on the back porch !!
Please give him a great big hug and smooch for me !
    I’d frame that one !

  2. Colossal canine captured candidly, creatively.
    Magnificent memories made movingly.

  3. Beautiful photos – my vote is on the first one!

  4. Don’t forget the Dougherty has great photo instructors/classes as well!

  5. If the wife is going to get into serious photography…take a bit of advise.

A camera is only as good as the glass in front of it.

In other words…if you are happy with your camera, spend your money on quality lenses.

  6. The dog’s eyes are not in focus in the first image and the second image is overexposed. What exactly are your wife’s qualifications to teach photography since she obviously doesn’t know how to use the auto-focus and histogram functions? xxxxxxx

    • His wife is taking a photo class – not teaching it, asshole.

What exactly are your qualifications to criticize anyone since you can’t even fucking read. Dumb prick!

      • It’s *poof* boy.

        • I figured that was the case….the juvenile antics gave it away!

What is it about this blog that draws some seriously psychotic people!.

Robbie…the photos are fine…tell your wife to keep shooting!

    • I didn’t catch it in time..but if that was Steve Thorp, and he did indeed insult my wife the way he did…then he’s one dumb mother fucker. Because he lives here in Austin. And I know where he works. And I know what he looks like….and I’ll beat the fucking hippie shit out of him if I find out it was him.

      Watch your back, little man….

  7. Awesome pics!!
