Candidate Obama Lied to Jobless Blacks During Campaign

Well…why should jobless blacks (or any other blacks, really) be immune from being lied to be the Deceiver in Chief? The answer is: they shouldn’t be (and aren’t).

Via DeWayne Wickham (who is himself black, though not jobless):

The poor in urban America, he said in that 2007 speech, “suffer most from a politics that has been tipped in favor of those with the most money, and influence, and power.” And then he asked rhetorically, “How can a country like this allow it?” To which he answered, “We can’t.”

But so far, under his leadership, he has allowed it.

Of course, Wickham, like 96% of all blacks in America, doesn’t actually blame Obama for their dire straights…after all…Obama inherited this awful mess (which he has quickly made 3x worse than what he was handed).

I don’t blame Obama for the economic conditions that are responsible for so many blacks being out of work. The seeds of this problem were planted long before he moved into the Oval Office. But I do fault him for not doing more to fix this problem.

And what’s Mr. Wickham’s solution? Defund all three of Obama’s wars and give that money instead to black people. No..seriously. That’s what he wants: more charity and handouts for the already heavy-on-the-federal-tit black community.

Sigh. Just another race hustler who still doesn’t get it.

But this commenter at his column tries to set him straight:

D. Wayne…you just refuse to acknowledge the “R” word. You know–”responsibility”–the personal kind. Failure of black leaders like you to give a name to the real problems in your community is sad. No amount of money and new programs will ever fix it. Democrats’ Great Society programs have addicted the poor, especially blacks, to government dependence and reward behaviors which are destructive.

A bigger problem that Mr. Wickham doesn’t address is that fact that so many young black men aren’t just unemployed — they’re unemployable.

No matter what measures are used, blacks are not coming up as someone any employer would want to take a risk on. Less than 50% of blacks graduate from High School. AT LEAST 20% are functionally illiterate i.e. they can’t read their own diplomas (education equal to not more than 4th grade). Another 50-60% of Black graduates have less than an 8th grade education.

Four year college graduates fair a bit better but, according to a 2006 study when it comes to reading comprehension, 4% of Black college graduates (0 White) are functionally illiterate (less than 4th grade education), 20% (3% for Whites) have an education equal to 5th to 8th grade, 61% (55% for Whites) are somewhere between a 9th and 12th grade education and only 16% (42% for Whites) test to a college level. For math skills, it is far worse. 6% of Black college graduates (1% for Whites) are functionally illiterate, 43% (15% for Whites) have 5th to 8th grade skills, 46% (45% for Whites) have 9th-12th grade capabilities and only 5% (40% for Whites) have college level math skills.

Throw in employers experiences with reliability, dependability, consistency, etc, you know, the kind of things employers want to see in an employee; Blacks have a major problem when it comes to jobs. There is NOTHING President Obama or any other political leader can do if Blacks don’t accept accountability for their own educational shortfalls and start admitting that if they aren’t educated, it is no one’s fault but their own.
