(FOX News) – A school in Indiana has become a target of public outrage over its decision to ban the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at sporting events, arguing the anthem’s words conflict with the college’s core values, FOXNews.com reported Tuesday.
“We recognize that some people may not be satisfied with this decision, but we believe it is the right one for Goshen College,” Ricky Stiffney, chairman of the Mennonite school’s board of directors, said in a written statement.
“The board has a diversity of views on this issue as reflected through the process of considering the anthem.”
According to an online fact sheet on the issue, the college noted, “Historically, playing the national anthem has not been among Goshen College’s practices because of our Christ-centered core value of compassionate peacemaking seeming to be in conflict with the anthem’s militaristic language.”
Is our anthem a bit militaristic? You betchurass it is. What these America-hating pacifists don’t seem to remember is that our nation’s freedom was won via violent conflict. And that it is only through the spilled blood and heroic sacrifices of better men and women than themselves that we remain free.
Banning our National Anthem anywhere in this country? Makes me want to mule kick Ricky Stiffney in his pie hole.
If I lived in the area, I’d buy a ticket for every football and basketball home game and just before the start of each game, I’d stand in my seat and start loudly signing our nation’s Anthem. I’ll be dimes to nickles most of the crowd would join me, too.
And, for my money, few people have ever belted out our Anthem like Whitney Houston did back in 1991. Sure, she’s a wigged-out crack head now…but back then? That woman could raise the roof:

Definitely agree with you – one of the best renditions of the National Anthem ever. The chill-bumps and the tears were active again watching the video.
You know that judge in TX reversed his decision and they were allowed to have a prayer at their graduation (?) ceremony.
These ungrateful morons wanting the national anthem banned are everywhere.
Thanks for the video. she did do a great job.
This one remains in my top 3 favorites, though.
One of the early videos of the Cactus Cuties singing it before a basketball game.

These non-violence types annoy the Hell out of me.
No one prays for peace more fervently than the soldier. The difference is, the soldier endeavors to provide it with their sacrifice.
