Lost in yesterday’s celebration of the Wisconsin Supreme Court siding with Gov. Scott Walker and the GOP legislation that will effectively neuter public employee unions in Wisconsin (which is total awesomesauce, btw) was the other piece of legislation that became law: Wisconsinites have the right and now the means to defend themselves from those who would do them or others harm while out in public.
EDIT: The law has not yet been signed into law by Gov. Scott Walker. It must still pass through assembly before it hits Gov. Walker’s desk…but it is expected to pass through the GOP-controlled assembly.
Via the Wisconsin State Journal:
The Wisconsin Senate passed a bill Tuesday that would allow concealed weapons in the state Capitol and other public places, but not in police stations, courthouse and other specifically exempted locations.
The final vote was 25-8, with all 19 Republicans and six Democrats supporting it, and the other eight Democrats opposed.
Wisconsin would become the 49th state to legalize carrying hidden guns. Those who want to carry the weapons would have to obtain a permit.
Before the bill goes to Republican Gov. Scott Walker, who backs the measure, it must also pass the Assembly. That could happen later in the week.
Republicans said the measure will help people take control over their own safety, particularly since there are felons who obtain guns even though they’re not supposed to have them.
“This is about allowing law-abiding citizens to protect themselves,” said Rich Zipperer, R-Pewaukee.
Congrats to my freedom-loving friends in Wisconsin.
The one state that will be left alone with the most anti-second amendment restrictions? Illinois, home of Barack Obama, the most anti-gun President ever. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Excellent !
Welcome to the club, Wisconsin.
Glad to see your dark overlords are being exposed to the bright light and your citizens are reclaiming their God given rights.
As for Ill-Noise and their anti-gun overlords, they are still resisting and trying to weasel out of following the constitution, but at least the 7th CCA has responded by smacking them down.
Heh! Chicago Has To Pay Up.
As for Chicago, there is a rumbling that the Chicago Mercantile Exchange is tired of the outrageous taxes in Chicago and Ill-Noise and are thinking of moving out of state. Rumored new home? Dallas.
and now, wisconsin has it’s right to the second ammendment.waited ten years for this.and it took republicans to issue our rights.some day our country will return to it’s basics.but for now, wisconsin celibrate.
Uhm….Not yet. The bill still needs to pass the assembly and be signed by the gov. The assembly is taking it up next tuesday. Yes, it’s expected to pass, but don’t count our chickens before they’re hatched.
the senate rooster republicans passed the right over the democratic hens.the assembely republican roosters wil do the same to the hens in there house too.and then the top rooster will make it a law.
