But that still doesn’t mean she didn’t kill her baby, either, now does it (see also: O.J. Simpson and Nicole Brown/Ron Goldman)?
Marcia Clark (yeah, that Marcia Clark) at The Daily Beast calls the verdict “Worse than O.J.” And I can see why she’d like people to think that.
I wasn’t going to post on this at all, but figured some of you might want to chime in on it. So, uh, do that here if you’d like.
I have a confession: since we no longer have cable television (which means no cable news, which —- more importantly — means no Nancy Grace), I did not watch a single minute of her trial. I barely even know the facts of the case. Other than her baby is dead and she’s a horrific liar who may or may not have been raped by her brother and father.
But what I do know is that this self-proclaimed party girl is about to get everything she ever wanted in life — which is lots and lots of money to fuel her party girl/shop-a-holic lifestyle. I’m guessing her first “exclusive” interview after she’s released from a Florida jail tomorrow will net her a mid-t0-high six-figure payday. And the movie rights? Millions. If she’s so inclined, I’d bet Playboy and Penthouse throw a stack of money at her to take her clothes off. And she doesn’t seem to be the most morally grounded person around…
Either way, if karma has any say in it, she’ll overdose on her first hit of blow on Thursday night after being released.
So, what do you think? Did the party girl kill her baby and get away with murder? Did the kid really just drown in the pool and the family orchestrated an outrageous murder-mystery to cover up for their lack of parenting skills?
In an otherwise tragic story, I did find these tweets especially funny in the moments after the verdict was announced:
After following her on Twitter for a while, Jenni Lee is easily my favorite Austin news personality.
And of course there’s this gem of a reply to @KimKardashian from @HaHaWhitePPL:

I thought Clark brought up good points, i.e., a reason does not mean reasonable doubt. You see antis do this all the time, that is, try to explain away everything no matter how unreasonable the explanation.
No one can fucking tell me that a mother whose kid disappears and then sends the cops on wild goose chases and the baby’s body is found in a swamp with duck tape over her face didn’t murder her.
And no, I don’t believe in karma. Too many people have committed atrocities and have gotten away with it or only received a slap on the hand. Thanks, you euroweenie antis! You make me want to puke…
Oh I didn’t pay much attention to to it, because from what little I had heard..she’s as guilty as the day is long. problem was the evidence was all circumstantial..which doesn’t mean it’s not evidence. What I mean is there’s no video, no confession, no dna, no eyewitness. With that lack of direct evidence I think the prosecution was reaching when they went for the 1st degree capital murder case which made her eligible for death if found guilty. Without that evidence I knew there was no way in hell they’re going to find guilty of 1st degree murder.
Now from what I heard there was more than enough circumstantial evidence to justify the aggravated manslaughter. That being said..if they’d had reckless endangerment of a child[not reporting the child missing for 30days and LYING to everyone during those 30 days about where the child was] and Negligent Homicide. Negligent homicide I think they probably could have gotten a conviction on with that one.
The aggravated child abuse charge didn’t float to my mind because there’s no video, photographic or medical file evidence consistent with long term physical abuse..which is what it would have taken to make that one stick
When the jury came back so fast I personally thought they’d tossed out the 1st degree murder charge as unworthy of even debating, unanimously agreed she was guilty on all 4 counts of perjury since there was ample video and audio proof of that one. Come to the same conclusion I did on the Aggravated abuse charge and decided on the manslaughter charge after some heated debate. Their coming back with not guilty on all 3 of the top counts and only convicting her of the perjury charges[for which I have NO doubt that she'll be given time served and set free on] was a mindblower.
Sean, give your explaination as to why there was no Murder 1 in this case to Scott Peterson. There was no cause of death, no time of death, no evidence that Peterson murdered his wife, nada, just a circumstantial case built by the prosecution and a jury that was allowed to jump up and down in a boat on a trailer to see if it rocked so that that could determine if a body could have been thrown out of it.
Peterson now sits on death row. So obviously, people do get the death sentence because of circumstantial evidence. Peterson sits on death row, Casey Anthony, scumbag, walks.
Ain’t justice great?
This is an excellent point….and I wish someone would throw it in the face of the people that let that murderer go.
How can they sleep at night…
Take a look at Joe Hunt and the Billionaire Boys Club. No body.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with circumstantial evidence. In fact, it tends to be more reliable than other types of evidence. I wish people would drop this crazy idea that it is in some way inferior. The jury is instructed that it is not.
didn’t say it WAS inferior..just that it wasn’t hard direct proof and didn’t think there was a snowballs chance in hell of convicting on the 1st count, with it.
Once again, many people find circumstantial evidence more reliable than what you call “hard direct evidence.” There was enough to convict her on first degree murder. I sure would have found her guilty.
oh one more thing. heard a joke on the radio yesterday evening. Local DJ said “I think all you people got it wrong about Casey Anthony..Hell the wife and I are going out of town. We’ve got Michael Vick coming over to take care of the dogs and Casey coming over to sit for the kids while we’re gone.”
Robbie? I love Alyssa Milano and she does look somewhat like her but she’s too old for the part me thinks
Yeah, I know. But I just wanted an excuse to post a picture of Ms. Milano.
That bitch is guilty and deserves an ass beating…

Sorry, but I would hit that.
I thought she would, at the very Least, get a Manslaughter conviction.
Someone on tv yesterday pointed out that before we had DNA matching and all the fancy CSI shit for evidence….all there WAS to convict someone, other than a witness, Was ALL circumstantial evidence !!.
People used to get convicted when there was as much circumstantial evidence as there was in Casey’s trial.
So the message the jury just sent out was, if you kill somebody, make sure you dump the body somewhere remote or in woods so thick, no one will discover it till there’s nothing but bones left.
That was one of the biggest problems for the prosecution in this case. Dry bones.
Let’s see how Casey does after getting out in public (tomorrow ?) and discovers how many people believe she’s her baby’s Killer, regardless of the verdict.
Yeah, she’ll get offers for interviews, book writings, movies……$$$$$$$$$
I’ve got news for Casey: Money can solve a lot of problems, but it won’t/can’t make you happy.
I hope she has nightmares with her daughter floating above her with wings and her daughter points at Casey and says “She did it.” while looking up into the sky at God (who will be invisible to Casey).
I heard yesterday that Casey’s parents have already received death threats.
That family had/has WAY too many dark secrets, and I think this trial only scratched the surface.
I heard there was a lot of animosity in that family.
Did either of Casey’s parents know something and they threw their own daughter under the bus ?
A lot of weird shit going on with that family.
Did either of Casey’s parents know something and they threw their own daughter under the bus ?
WTF? The girl was HER DAUGHTER. She was the one who did not report her missing and then lied repeatedly to the police.
I can’t believe people are trying to pin it on the parents.
That was one of the biggest problems for the prosecution in this case. Dry bones.
Uh, they found duct tape over the kid’s face.
When people accidentally drown do they put duct tape over their face? No.
When people die of natural causes, do they put duct tape over their face? No.
When people are murdered, do they put duct tape over their faces? Yes. In fact, putting duct tape over someone’s face will kill them.
I personally wouldn’t think they’d do that to their own daughter.
However, yesterday when the verdict on the 7 or 8 counts were read, Casey’s parents who always sat on a back row….got up and left right after those were read.
They did NOT look happy at all.
Why wouldn’t they look happy ? Their daughter just escaped the death penalty as well as a life spent in jail. She had only 4 counts of guilty of lying to law enforcement.
The court may say she’s already served enough time for that now and be free tomorrow.
So…. why didn’t her parents look at all happy ?
No going over to hug their daughter…..NOTHING….they just got up and walked out.
Do you think that seems like a normal reaction for parents ?
I don’t.
Are you shittin’ me? If my daughter murdered my grandchild, she would belong behind bars for the rest of her life. What do you want? For her to get knocked up again and kill another kid?
Casey knows how her daughter died and it was probably due to her (Casey’s) negligence…i.e. manslaughter. However, there was not one piece of evidence or even mention of manslaughter during the trial except by Casey’s attorney. He said the baby drowned in the pool. After the trial I heard him say “it was an accident”. I don’t think he’d lie about that except he wouldn’t state the circumstances because that would have convicted her. That doesn’t explain the duct tape…I have no clue about that.
I had dear friends whose 3 year old child walked out of the house one day and fell into an empty concrete pool and died. They were of course devastated and called 911, etc. They were never charged with negligent manslaughter. I don’t know why the pool was left uncovered but I do know they were good people and loved their daughter. That would have been on my mind as a juror.
I can understand the verdict but I’m like everyone else who believes Casey is guilty of something.
She put duct tape over the kid’s mouth and nose to smother the child.
Then continually lied and partied, enjoyed hot body contests…got a beautiful life tattoo…
Grieving mother my ass…
What evidence is there that she fell into the pool and drowned? It’s just made up bullshit. Why are people buying into it.
The evidence was that the kid had duct tape over her face. People are murdered all the time buy having duct tape put over their face. The little girls body was then thrown in the swamp and the mother lied her ass off about her whereabouts and sent the police on wild goose chases.
How on earth can any of you believe that anyone but the mother intentionally murdered that child? No, you rather believe some bullshit from the defense attorney that is not fucking evidence. What attys say in court is not effin’ evidence.
Just so no one like “anonymous” is confused, I think she should have gotten 1st degree murder AND the death penalty.
I’m just pondering a lot of possibilities because too much is unanswered.
Just saw this from juror #3, who broke her silence.
“Casey Anthony Juror: Sick to Our Stomachs Over Not Guilty Verdict”
http://abcnews.go.com/US/casey_anthony_trial/casey-anthony-juror-sick-stomach-guilty-verdict/story?id=14005609
I’m not the one confused – you are.
And moonrock #3 makes me want to hurl. I guess I better get use to dumbass comments from the dumbass jurors trying to justify their dumbassholeness.
I just got the date for my jury duty…hmmm…
Case was decided by people selected by lawyers for their ignorance and stupidity.
Sadly, you are absolutely correct.
I watched the trial and have followed this case since 2008. Here are my thoughts.
George told his girlfriend that Caylee’s death was an accident that snow balled out of control. Cindy, according to Lee Anthony, Casey’s brother testified that Cindy said that the only good thing Casey ever did in her life was the birth of Caylee. There was no evidence that pointed to Casey as a murderer of her daughter. From all the witnesses she was a great and loving mother. Casey even stated on the phone while driving her car that she thought her Dad had run over an animal that got stuck on the car somewhere because of the smell. Obviously, George had the car in his possession sometime before Casey’s phone conversation. Pretty much sounded like to me that the defense was correct in that George knew about the death of Caylee. That he and Casey were so afraid of telling Cindy they panicked after finding Caylee in the pool dead and George wanted to make it look like Caylee had been kidnapped and murdered. Casey went along with the plan and since she was a party girl before Caylee died, she had to continue to be a party girl afterwards to keep people from asking too many questions for awhile. Of course she knew that this could only go on for so long before being pressured to confess something. Pressure from her Dad and being afraid of her mother and who knows what else created the lies. I never believed that Casey could have or even thought of killing her daughter to be able to go partying.
All you people have been influenced by experts like Nancy Grace who had her tried and convicted three years ago and never let go of their thoughts and did everything in her power to try and make everyone else believe Casey was guilty. Nancy obviously did a great job of it too. Everyone one wants to have a fair trail and be innocent until found guilty.
If anyone harms Casey, any of the jurors, the attorneys, or Judge Perry. I’m ashamed to see all these threats from people who supposedly are fair minded people. Casey did not murder her child. It was an accident that got blown way out of control just as George told his girlfriend Ms Holloway. George is the one who needs to be put on trail.
Casey was put in a position where she had to grieve for the death of her little girl and at the same time cover for her Dad George for his actions in covering up the fact that it was an accidental drowning. George’s actions was what made it appear that Casey was a murder. Casey covered for him as long as she could.
Nancy Grace made a lot of money telling everyone for the past 3 years that Casey was guilty of murder and she seems to have convince 95% of the people out there. Shame on you Nancy Grace!
George put the duct tape on the body and disposed of the body after it set in Casey’s car for awhile. He drove the car and parked it by the garbage dumpster with a bag of garbage in the trunk. George told as many lies on the stand as Casey did trying to cover for him.
Take your meds.
