Rep. Jeff Landry (R, LA-03), serving as House Speaker Pro Tempore on Friday, made the following statement:
This morning – under the instruction of Speaker Boehner, Leader Cantor, and Whip McCarthy – I presided over a pro forma session in the United States House of Representatives, preventing Congress from going into recess and blocking President Obama from issuing recess appointments.
Let me begin by saying that under normal circumstances, the House of Representatives should not involve itself nomination fights. The Founding Fathers clearly intended the Senate to handle the nominees through a vetting process. However, when liberal lobbyists, unions, and community organizers direct the White House to subvert the will of the Senate, extraordinary steps must be taken to return transparency to our government and sanity to our political appointees.
Recess appointments are intended to maintain the continuity of our government during periods when the Senate is not in session. They are for situations when nominees cannot be considered or confirmed, not for political expediency. This isn’t 1852; Congress isn’t out of session for 4 months at a time; it doesn’t take a week for members to come back to Washington.
That is a snip of the statement, I encourage you to read it all.
To preempt expected lefty outrage over this action, I remind you all that Sen. Harry Reid did the same thing to President Bush in his last term.
As I stated back in May when Sen. Sessions took a similar action before Memorial Day:
Anytime a GOP Senator…HELL….anytime a GOP official of any kind shows some gumption and a willingness to fight back, they need to be praised. Positive feedback encourages more positive behavior.
It not only pleases me to know that our elected officials are engaged in the fight against the criminal B. Hussein administration, but that they are emboldened by this display of leadership. There are very serious issues that need to be dealt with that require all of our branches of government becoming engaged.
The House taking this unusual approach, blocking the Senate’s ability to go on recess, has been made necessary by the criminal actions of this administration. As Rep. Landry states:
The last recess appointment President Obama made was Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board. Becker’s nomination was rejected by the Senate. He is a man who argues that employers should have no say in union formations and who ruled that a private company(Boeing) could not relocate to a non-union state.
It has been a bad week for the B. Hussein Thugocracy with liberal pundits verbalizing their lack of affection for the current president, like this for example:
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: We’re getting hit a lot lately for not bringing on people who speak on behalf of the White House and really stick up for the president. But we are bringing people on, but they’re not doing it as much lately.
O000H, that left a mark.
From all appearances, B. Hussein being a one term pResident is gaining acceptance from all sides. Taking away his ability to recess appoint more union thugs and other Marxist to facilitate the destruction of our country is a step we should all applaud, if for no other reason to encourage our elected officials to thwart further attempts by this pResident to force us down a road to ruin.

You calling him “B. Hussein”, for some odd reason struck me, startled me –made me recollect the names the guy in these little books used, “Lew Siffer”, and “B. Fox”……..fits quite well, I’d say. : )

B. Hussein does have a knack for startling folks.
That is an interesting comic strip, thanx.
Bravo! Thank you Rep. Landry. I guess our reps are too busy to do what we re-elected them to do.
I count 76 freshmen members of the House signing onto Rep. Landry’s letter. Maybe they can set a positive example for all those reps who have been inhaling the swamp gas for too long.
Read Landry’s whole statement at the link you provided.
That was great !
