A picture being worth a thousand words and all that…

While Rick Perry spent his youth piloting C-130s for the United States Air Force, Obama was getting high in an entirely different way.

I have a caption for these photos.
“A picture is worth a thousand words.”
Oh wait – I see you already said that…(red face here) well it’s true !!! lol
I hate to tell you this, but that ain’t a C130!
Having flown in the back of several C130s, I’m well aware of that. But Perry’s primary aircraft for which he was a pilot was a C130. But thanks for chiming in.
The Herky Bird is a bad ass plane.
If they could ever recreate a ride at Six Flags that could simulate a night time combat landing over Saigon, the ticket line would never end.
Even in those conditions and maneuvers, I always had faith that the Herc and the drivers would get me to Terra Firma in good shape.
The C-130 has a very impressive track record: 53 years and counting. Very few military aircraft can make that claim. And not just being in service for 53 years; the Hercules is still in production after all this time. No other military aircraft (and few civilian ones) can make such a claim.
As far as I know, there are currently no plans to phase it out. It is likely that the design (the design, not individual airframes) will pass the century mark before it eventually goes away.
Colin, I can attest from personal experience, that the wings of a Herc…they are stuck on real good.
Why mess with perfection?

I’m hardly an expert, but it looks to me like a T-38. Since the T-38 is a trainer, it is not unlikely that then-Lieutenant Perry would have flown in one on at least a few occasions, regardless of what aircraft he eventually wound up with.
Robbie, remember me telling you how Debbie Schlussel had posted an article bashing Rick Perry. I just received the most hatefilled, vitriolic email from her that I have ever had the displeasure to receive. Not ONE blogger has ever responded to me in such a way. I am sending it to you. Feel free to publish it as long as you protect my identity and my email address.
Debbie Schlussel sounds like a real bitch.
Hayley, it is one thing to attack someone who posts to your blog on that blog, but to send that person an email that is riddled with hate, goes beyond the pale. Pam Geller is also reprinting the Salon.com article on a very conservative website but when you go to her own website, she not only reprints the Salon.com article, she prostitutes herself for Sarah Palin in the very same entry.
These two women are too damn stupid to know that CAIR is NEVER going to be honest and my guess is CAIR, in releasing their presser on Rick did it to attempt to take votes away from him. CAIR is the most dishonest group in America. You can damn sure bet CAIR does not want someone in the Oval Office who is going to remain a good friend to Israel and not take any shit from radical Muslims.
I’d like to see the email. She sounds lovely.
Debbie Schlussel apparently has a reputation for this sort of behavior. I have read of her loathsome polemics at other websites, even the self-righteously anti-anti-semitic ones written by self-professed conservative Jews, whom she has also attacked. Schlussel has also gloated at Europe’s problem with Muslims in general (because she considers Europe still too anti-semitic) and Norway’s and more recently England’s problems in particular (again, she feels they deserve it because their foreign policy doesn’t suit her). She knows only one note in only one song: Is it good for the Jews? All else in the world is secondary and/or expendable to her.
That crazy b!tch has sent me three emails. I know she recently did the same thing to another Texas conservative blogger recently. She is crazy as a sh!t house rat.
Does she really think her “my way or the highway” mentality is going to win anyone over to her side?
I sent her original email to Robbie, and he is free to publish the contents. I just want him to keep my name out of it. And if he wants to publish the next two, I’ll be happy to send those to him.
Dang, gal.
You went and pressed one of those buttons, didn’t you?

heh…lol.
That speaks oceans doesn’t it?????
As a retired Soldier who was drafted into the Army, commissioned out of OCS and went to Vietnam as a 2LT not yet old enough to legally drink – and extended in country to come home a much more mature captain, I can tell you Service Members have a LOT more respect for a Commander-in-Chief who has worn the uniform then one that has not. And who all is it complaining when this FACT is pointed out by former Air Force Captain and pilot Rick Perry? All those candidate that never served.
One in particular is especially irritating because it appears an ability to avoid Military service has been a strong Romney family trait. As the Vietnam War raged, Mitt Romney (Born: 12 March 1947) received a draft deferment for 2 ½ years from July 1966 until February 1969 as a Mormon missionary in France and before and after his missionary deferment he received 3 years of college deferments. When his deferments finally ran out in December 1970 and he became draft eligible, he drew a high number in the newly instituted lottery system which ensured he would never have to serve. Mormon missionary deferments were very controversial in the late 1960s because the substantial number of them made the likelihood of non-Mormons going to Vietnam much greater. Romney has said he would have served if he had been drafted but in an interview had the gall to state: “I was supportive of my country. I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam.” There was an easy cure to alleviate his frustration — sign up! It should be noted that avoiding Military service has been something of a Romney family tradition. Of prime age for WWII, his father skillfully avoided service (although a big VN War supporter) and his grandfather did the same for WWI. None of Romney’s five sons have ever served and when recently asked about his sons’ lack of service he responded: “they show their patriotism by helping me get elected!” How’s that for an answer?
While on the subject, Here’s a Republican Candidate riddle for you; what do Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, Tim Pawlenty, Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum (+ Rudy Giuliani, if he were to run) ALL have in common? The only uniform any of them might have donned is for the Scouts! Of the GOP likelies, only Texas Gov Rick Perry and Texas Congressman Ron Paul have ever served, both were in the Air Force.
Perry was commissioned in 1972 out of the Texas A&M ROTC program and after completing pilot training, flew C-130s in the States, Middle East, and Europe. He left the Air Force in 1977as a captain.
Ron Paul, a medical doctor, was an active duty Air Force flight surgeon from 1963 to 65.
If you want to know how I really feel about all the Republican Candidates (among other things) and an analysis how many avoided serving, check out my Blog at: http://old-soldier-colonel.blogspot.com/
These two photos show a sharp contrast. on the left, learning to follow orders; on the right, learning to think for yourself. Just sayin’.
On the left, learning how to operate complex technical machinery; on the right, learning how to sit around and fuck off. Just sayin’.
As far as I’m concerned this is like a darn reality show!! Politically our country is in trouble and as far as our future I’m very afraid. As to your photo~pretty sure he’s smoking a cigarette which a million people do. Just because he smoked was a youth “wasted??” Come on~seems to me they could come up with more to work with than this photo. And, let us look to our future~not our past~and start working for our country instead of constantly dividing with such posts as these!!
