UPDATE (Sept 14): The remains of PO Brian Lundy will arrive back home in Austin this morning. I’ll be joining the Central Texas Patriot Guard Riders at the airport to welcome home this hero, and to show our support to his family and friends. After he lands, we’ll help escort his casket and his family up to the funeral home in Pflugerville, pending his September 21 funeral.

A Navy carry team moves a transfer case containing the remains of Petty Officer 3rd Class Brian K. Lundy Jr. Monday, Sept. 12, 2011 at Dover Air Force Base, Del.
Bring them home. Now:
A hospital corpsman from Austin was killed while conducting a dismounted patrol in Afghanistan, the Pentagon announced Sunday.
The Defense Department said 25-year-old Navy Petty Officer Brian Lundy, who was based at Camp Lejeune, died Friday while on a dismounted patrol in Marjah, Helmand province.
Lundy was assigned as a hospital corpsman to the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force.
Doc Lundy was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 5, Second Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, NC.
As a former Combat Medic, I have a special affinity for the men and women who serve as medics and corpsmen. My thoughts and prayers go out to this Sailor’s family, friends, and the men and women of his unit.
Austin PGR Mission for PO Lundy
I haven’t been to a Patriot Guard Rider’s Mission in quite some time. Mainly because I only have time to attend the KIA missions (rather than the numerous Veterans missions that the PGR also honorably attends each week), and we’ve been fortunate to have fewer and fewer missions in Central Texas.
When I first started riding with the PGR back in March of 2006, the PGR was still in its infancy of growth. Back then, there were so few riders statewide that I’d ride all over Texas to PGR missions (from Brownsville, to Houston, to Dallas/Ft Worth, to the tiny rural towns in far-west Texas that you’ve never heard of) to make sure there were enough riders to properly honor each fallen Soldier and their families.
However, as the PGR’s numbers have swelled statewide, I no longer needed t0 ride all over the state to make sure there were enough riders to support the mission. Don’t get me wrong, I wish I had the time and resources to go to every single PGR mission in the state. I just don’t.
But I will make every effort to attend the mission for PO Lundy if the PGR is invited to attend his services.

Thanks for recognizing my cousin.
Your first sentiment reminds me of mine the day I found out.
Mr. President, f#ck my freedom. Bring these children (to somebody, he was my little cousin, and for a while a bit of a little brother) home.
pardon the language.
peace,

My Son Vincent was fortunate enough to be a friend to Brian.
He said they had spent many a weekend together in Lejeune.
He told me the news and I could tell he was distraught.
I could not offer any comfort to Vincent as he is still serving in Afghanistan, what a horrible feeling that is.
I also cannot offer any comfort to his family, equally disheartening.
I can only offer my thoughts and prayers and undying admiration for you and your Brave Hero.
With great respect
John Pagano
Thank you for the kind words for my brother. He was loved by so many and respected by alot as well. He was a hero to everyone and especially me. I celebrate his life and what he has done for our country. I love my brother and thank you again for your thoughts and prayers
Joslyn, I have known you since I was very young and Junior since he was born. My mom took Ramona to the hospital to deliver him! I am thinking of you and your family today, God be with yall.
Thanks for remembering the previous life of Brian K. Lundy, Jr. and all of our fallen, who so unselfishly laid down their lives for our country. This we should never forget. Brian was a precious soul, taken from us so young, but we have the assurance that he died doing what he wanted to do. In a Facebook post he wrote almost a year ago, he said, “If I could go back in time I would do it all over again… wouldn’t change a step taken or a word said…everything happens for a reason”.
On behalf of your entire family, Brian, may you rest in sweet, heavenly peace.
Love,
The Fowler Family
May he rest in peace. Thought and prayers for his loved ones.

Thank God we have had people like this to defend our nation. Thank God that so many have fought and died for our rights and freedoms.
I was on the same flight with this family on Saturday and feel lucky to have seen this as it make me thankful every day for the many blessings we all have. My deep felt sympathies to his family–my heart is with you at your time of need. I heard his Mother say that he died loving what he was doing and that makes me so proud of our boys but this one in particular. May his memory and spirit filll us with love and admiration and Thank you.
From my mom and my self thank you for your kind words and prayers.. My baby brother was and forever is a Hero!
Dear Joslyn,
I read your post and had to reach out to you… So please- from our Navy family to yours… Our hearts go out to you & your mom, all family, friends, and Brian’s fellow comrades near and afar. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you all find your Place of Peace in this heartbreaking loss.
To your brave brother, Petty Officer Brian K. Lundy Jr. … Although we didn’t have the honor to meet you, you will always be a part of our Navy Family. Brian, I had the chance to read messages from those who knew you and served alongside you. You will always be an amazing young man- well respected, so very loved, and sorely missed. The world is a lesser place without you. Words can not begin to express our gratitude to you. THANK YOU. You will NEVER be forgotten.
A Salute to Brian, and a big (((HUG))) to you Joslyn,

p.s. My brother has volunteered to assist with Brian’s service. I will be there too. Take care of yourself. We’re here for you.
What a heartfelt honor to be able to bring “Doc” home as part of the Patriot Guard today.
Austin got to pay respect for this hero also as we were able to shut down 35.
His sister mentioned he had a motorcycle so I am sure he is smiling amongst us as we pay tribute.
Bozack — I didn’t get the chance to meet you on the mission today, but a job well done by all. These missions are always emotionally wrenching for me, especially watching the grieving family members break down finally having their hero home for the first time since receiving the tragic news.
I have a few pictures and a video of the mission that I’ll post later.
Absolutely, I am usually always the sole guy on the sportbike (aprilia)
I had the GoPro on for all video today and for Wed so will need to get those edited and posted at some point also.
Feel free to post up your link, thanks again

I’m the daughter of a Vietnam veteran (USN), sister to 2 veteran Sailors, sisterinlaw to another Sailor, and wife of a retired Naval veteran. I’d like to thank you for being a member of PGR and for sharing this information. I was at a loss when I first heard this on the news. Each loss is one too many and I cry for each and every one every time. Although we never had the honor of meeting Petty Officer Lundy, he is a member of our USN family, and we are so very saddened. My brother has volunteered to be a pallbearer for Brian. He feels deeply about having the opportunity to honor Brian one last time. He hopes to be selected.

p.s. We will be attending both the visitation and service. I’m also enlisting help of friends and neighbors to show support by attending or standing along the way as our last show of respect. Will the procession run on the expected route? Would you contact me directly with any information? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
As an Austinite and former veteran who served many years ago, I offer my condolences. I saw his name
on ABC’s Sunday Memoriam segment.
God speed PO Brian Lundy.
