And in the cheapest — a block of south-central Detroit that falls into zip code 48208 — the median home price is just $6,388.
48208 is just one neighborhood in Detroit that has been largely abandoned, thanks largely to the struggles of the auto industry, on which the city is so dependent. The city has tried to lure new residents with incentives like renovation money and forgivable loans.
What’s life like within the confines of 48208?
Forty percent of households had an income under $15,000 last year, compared to 12.5% of households making under that sum nationally, according to CLRSearch. And 18% of the households in the area had an income between $15,000 and $24,999.
The crime rate is extraordinarily high. The murder risk is more than eight times the national average, and the robbery risk is nearly six times the national average, according to CLRSearch.
Thirty-one percent of residents over the age of 25 did not complete high school; twice the national average.
And the size of 48208′s population has decreased nearly 33% since 1990. It’s forecasted to dip another 9.9% by 2014.
The majority of the folks living in 48208? Blacks. Whom the Democrat party has failed time and time again.
There's still some commerce in the area (but not very much). Motown Market on W. Grand Boulevard sells almost everything. Notice the barricades areoudn teh building to prevent the local criminals from driving through the walls or windows and robbing the store.

Someone had posted on the internet how a relative bought one of these fixer uppers. He found that his neighbors had illegally hooked up to his electricity. When he disconnected it, one of them came over and shot him. He lost so much blood that he had a stroke in the ambulance. He survived but or course, has residual problems and he sure as hell can’t go back to that neighborhood.
Do they still burn down the neighborhood on Halloween? I remember that was the cool thing to do in the 90s.

This is a great example of liberals war on poverty. These results along with hundreds of “Projects” around the country don’t seem to make any sense to a liberal. Most of them will tell you they just need more money to lift these people up. In fact the social welfare programs are destroying the vary lives they believe they are helping. The evidence is everywhere. Amazing!

On a slightly more serious note, lots of us “middle class” folks are going to vote Conservative (Republican is a close as we can get at this time) in order to preserve the chance that we can improve our situations economically, and socially.
Under liberal administrations and particularly now under this regime, you have to be in their “club” to get exemptions from regulatory hardship or awarded government backed loans(read bailouts/handouts). Their loudly touted premise of being for the little guy only applies those that are cage fed (unions) or enslaved(welfare) and can be counted on to vote as programmed.
If you are a good little “demobot” the wealth that others have earned will be redistributed “fairly” to you by those that know what is best for their subjects.
If the democrat elites [Al Gore, Pelosi, Franks, reid etc.] are so in tune with their oppressed brothers and sisters, why don’t they redistribute their own wealth and move out of their multimillion dollar mansions into a nice little 95,000 tract home in the suburbs, or better still into affordable housing in a section 8 neighborhood.
