Detroit: On the Brink of Total Darkness

After decades of Liberal policies and ‘leadership’ this is what has become of Detroit, which is now a dying city taking her last few gasping breaths:

Detroit —Like many swaths of the city, Keith Wicks’ historic Indian Village neighborhood has remained largely dark at night after vandals destroyed transformers in nearly every streetlight pole that powers them.

On a recent rainy day, Wicks, 64, a retired GM engineer who has lived in Detroit for decades, watched as city Public Lighting workers put new transformers at the top of the aging wooden poles. Just days later, those streetlights were out — again.

“We’ve still got a ways to go,” Wicks said with a laugh.

The growing lack of public lighting has become a troubling problem for cash-starved Detroit, where entire stretches of neighborhoods and thoroughfares — such as portions of the Southfield Freeway — are feeling the effects.

“This city…it’s dark without streetlights,” said Wicks, who lives on Iroquois. “You look down Iroquois at night now, it’s black. It’s very dangerous.”

The war to keep the lights on in Detroit is a serious one. Thieves, antiquated equipment and a lack of funding have made it impossible for city officials to catch up to the problem.

Of course, in Detroit the words thieves and city officials are synonymous.

This is also what happens when white people abandon a city to the great Black Undertow (Detroit, which is 81.6% black, has the second highest ratio of blacks for a large city, second only to Gary, IN):

The Economics Collapse Blog is wrong. Zero Hedge is wrong. Lew Rockwell is wrong. They are all wrong because they refuse to admit the number one factor that decides the real manner in which, “You Know Your City Has Become a Hellhole When…”

It is the Black Undertow. The ultimate red-flag that your city, that you county is about to become a hellhole is when the Black Undertow (BU) starts moving and businesses begin to shutter;residential and commercial property value falls (with tax-revenue instantly decreasing);the “good schools” that attracted young white families to the city or county require more resource officers and metal detectors to keep the peace as the children of the BU become the majority school population; crime rates dramatically rise; and, most telling, public spaces like parks are left unattended , filled with weeds, broken bottles and a melancholy silence only broken by the occasional random gun fire.

It is called the Black Undertow for a reason. A peaceful city or county that once prospered – when it was all-white – instantly takes on the culture of the majority population, if the population that created and sustained the city is displaced.
