About 6 months ago, I would have told you that this is meaningless. Because blacks would vote for Obama regardless of how badly he’s screwed the country and how little he’s done to improve the plight of blacks in this country (you could even argue that he’s made it worse, not better).
For the second straight week, President Barack Obama’s job approval has dropped to a new low among blacks, according to the Gallup poll.
In the week that ended on Oct. 16, Obama’s approval was 79 percent among blacks. That was down from the previous low of 80 percent in the week that ended on Oct. 9.
In the week that ended on Oct. 2, Obama’s approval among blacks had been 85 percent.
Obama’s highest approval among blacks was 96 percent, a level he achieved in five different weeks of 2009.
But now I do think this is a big deal, for a couple of reasons:
- Voter enthusiasm — Not only did blacks who voted vote overwhelming for the black guy running for president, but they voted in larger numbers. So, while I have no doubt that most blacks who do go to the polls in November 2012 will still blindly and myopically vote for Obama (for no other reason than a) he’s black, and b) he’s a Democrat who wants to grow the entitlements that most blacks depend on)…I do believe that the significantly diminished voter enthusiasm will drastically reduce the number of blacks who do show up at the polls.
- Herman Cain — There’s a good chance that Obama will be running against a much more authentically black man than Obama in Herman Cain. And Herman would undoubtedly siphon some of the traditionally Democrat black voters over to the GOP side.
This commenter hits the nail square on the head:
That’s because they are disenchanted with him because they haven’t gotten free houses, cars, food, insurance, drugs, and booze like they thought Obama promised them. Black unemployment is near depression highs. I’m surprised there are any black supporters of Obama but it does show the prejudice of Black America that a black man can run a people into the ground and they still support him only because of a common skin color.

awww poor obama. him having a bad time? whatever..my heart bleeds purple piss for the dipshit in chief.
Being a community rabble rouser, what is happening now is all he has left, his quiver is empty. Unless these alleged protests become full fledged riots and he can declare a national emergency, suspending the elections, he has no chance for reelection.
If B. Hussein were to actually have to stand on stage with Herman Cain, he would wilt. Not only does Herman Cain have extensive executive experience, is an unabashed conservative with a positive attitude and a good sense of humor, the man can sing.
From 1991.
Now if we can just get the talking-head media pundits to quit saying Cain is “unelectable.” However, the more they say it, the higher it seems he goes in the polls. ??
Herman Cain claims he can pull 30% of the black vote. Perhaps he could, if he were in 1870 Virginia. But not in 2012. Blacks are NOT going to vote for Republicans by any greater majority of 10%, no matter how disillusioned they are with Obama. Ask Tim Scott and Allen West.
But please, someone explain to me the facination with Herman Cain. Yeah, he was the CEO of Godfathers and put the company in the black by closing over 500 of its 900 stores. Anyone want to guess how many people wound up with out a job because of Herman Cain? When I hear people rave about Cain, they remind me of the brainless robots that, just three years ago, followed another smooth talker with no record to determine how he would govern. I need a history, a record, to determine if a man will do what he says he will do.
And now, what about Cain’s most recent 9-0-9 plan for those “depressed” areas like Detroit and Flint, Michigan, Chicago and St. Louis that have continually elected Democrats who have driven those cities into bankruptcy. Let’s see, waivers from Obama on healthcare, waivers for states from Romney on health care, and waivers from taxes for those who have continually voted in the very people who destroyed their jobs and their towns.
No thank you.
