Gov. Rick Perry definitely gained some traction after his Saturday night CBS News debate (despite the most horrific moderating in the history of debate moderating by Scott Pelley, and the fact that CBS only showed 60 minutes of a 90 minute debate — why the hell did any GOP candidate agree to go on this fiasco from the network of Dan Rather and his fake-but-accurate memos?).

In fact, with his deprecating ability to laugh at himself and his so-simple-it’s-brilliant plan to zero out the foreign policy aid to every country every year plan — combined with the fact that people are quickly starting to realize that Herman Cain simply doesn’t have the depth or breadth of knowledge to do the job — Rick Perry is still very much in this campaign. Hermain Cain’s implosion might be Rick Perry’s momentum booster (Cain fan’s simply aren’t going to get in line now behind Romney, and instead will likely migrate back from where they came…the Perry camp).

And ads like this one can only help him, too:

He’s talking to you, Princess Nancy. There’s a whole bunch of crooks in D.C. who should be in jail. The only problem is, getting a corrupt Congress to introduce and pass any bill that actually treats them like the rest of us non-ruling class bourgeois peasants will be like asking Jerry Sandusky to not shower with little boys.

So, while I’m supporting Newt’s candidacy still, if Gov. Perry is on my primary ballot next year, I’m still voting for our Governor.

  1. That’s a very good ad.
    I hope it circulates widely.

Robbie, do you think Perry might get back to the top of this race ?
I know it’s not easy to predict….too many variables.

    Worth your time.

  2. Maybe if you continue to repeat the mantra “Rick Perry is gonna win” he just might. You know, as Stuart Smalley used to say, “I’m good enough. I’m smart enough. And doggone it, people like me.” Go for it, it can’t hurt at this point.
