And this is why I support the death penalty.

Prosecutors say 31-year-old John Chase was walking down the highway when he saw Ralph Aldrich, 88, in his back yard. Detectives say Chase shot and killed Aldrich with a crossbow and then went inside the home and repeatedly hit 83-year-old June Aldrich with a hatchet.

He then stole their truck and drove to a friend’s house.

“He told his friend he was trying to get away, that demons were after him, he’d been living in the woods for several days, that he had just killed two demons and stole their truck,” said Undersheriff Rick Scott.

The friend learned the truck was owned by a couple in Humptulips. When he drove the truck out there he found Ralph dead in the yard.

When police arrived there later, they found June still alive in the house, approximately 18 hours after the attack.

“They were subjected to the most graphic and horrific violence we’ve dealt with in a long time … and there’s absolutely no reason for it,” said Scott..

Chase is charged with 2nd degree murder. He could face another murder charge if June Aldrich dies. She is in critical condition at Harborview’s Intensive Care Unit.

Sure, we should have due process: give this guy a quick and speedy trial. And then take him outside and hang him from the nearest tree. No need to try to figure out why he did this, or what role his sad childhood might have played, or wait for him to challenge his “ineffective counsel” on appeals for decades to come.

Just take him out back and end him.

  1. I disagree with hanging. Shooting him in the head with his own crossbow would be better. Then use the hatchet to finish him off.

  2. Mark…nay…if you do that you’ll have to toss out your clothes..all the blood.

    • No you don’t. Since it would be as punishment (after Robbie’s speedy trial) we can wash them afterwards.

  3. We need to declare Humptulips (seriously? the name of the town is Humptulips? wtf?) to be a hatchet- and crossbow-free zone.

  4. I know this person, he was a good guy with a mental illness who didn’t get the help he needed. Killing him is not going to bring these people back. It is tragic and my heart is broken for everyone involved. What people need to realize is that people with mental illnesses don’t always know what they are doing and can think rationally the way you and I can. I know it is hard to be sympathetic to a murderer but you have to know this is not a bad person.

    • I don’t know who Anonymous is, but thank you for speaking on John’s behalf. John would never have done any of this crap if he was in his right mind.
