Politico’s Desperate Hit Piece on Herman Cain
The big news this morning is the hit-piece ran by Politico (which Obama operative leaked this info to you guys at Politico?) on Herman Cain (right on cue, as he’s now the frontrunner in the GOP primary race to unseat the worst President in our country’s history).
As you can see at Memeorandum, it’s pretty much all that anybody is talking about this morning. Which was exactly the goal of the hacks at Politico.
Professor Jacobson agrees:
The story was a legitimate issue for a presidential candidate; we only wish the mainstream media would investigate Obama’s past with half as much enthusiasm.
But there’s a bigger point here, visible only from 35,000 feet.
This is a taste of the medicine the mainstream media, which includes Politico as I have pointed out before, has in store for the eventual Republican nominee.
Whatever the source of the tip, the presentation was rolled out by Politico in a fashion to do maximum damage to Cain. The Sunday release was timed to be all over the media on Monday morning. Jonathan Martin, the lead reporter on the story for Politico, even conducted an ambush interview with Cain shortly after the story broke, receiving a muddled response from Cain.
Johnathan Martin who wrote the piece at Politico is a political hack. A shill for the Obama administration. Period. Glenn Ryenolds asks, “Would Jonathan Martin, Maggie Haberman, Anna Palmer and Kenneth Vogel have put their names on a similar piece, with no named sources, aimed at Barack Obama? Would Politico have run it? I think we know the answer.”
I love how the MFM and Democrats (yeah, redundant. I know) get the vapors trying to protect women from “sexual predators” on the Right…but yet are instantly able to dismiss real sexual harrassment and abuse from their own political hereos such as Bill Clinton, John Edwards, Anthony Weiner, and the entirety of the men in the Kennedy klan.
The Left is terrified of Herman Cain. Hell, they’re terrified of any strong, Conservative black man. Their gut instinct is to attack them and tear them down as not being “legitametly black” or “Uncle Tom’s.” See Allen West annd Michael Steele additional proof.
Herman Cain might not be the most qualified man for the job. But he very well just might be the best man for the job at this time in our country’s history. Obama has lowered the bar of “qualified” to such a low that it’s no longer a valid concern from the Lefty detractors.
It’s nearly impossible not to like a man who can break out into song like this during a press conference:

I am not voting for a black guy, period.
Unlike what ” * ” says I always try to discern the world view of the one running and if it comes closest to mine then the better chance the person has of receiving my vote. I think that who ever shakes out of the republican nomination process I’ll vote for because any one of the Republican candidates come closer to my world view than the current president’s does. If it’s Herman Cain then I will be happy to vote for him because “we can’t wait” for the current president to leave office.
Really stupid comment by *.
Cain is my second choice behind Perry. Just think what a great conservative ticket a Perry/Cain team would make.
At this point, I’d even settle for a Cain/Perry ticket (though a Cain/Gingrich ticket might be even better).
I’ve always appreciated Newt for his brilliance and his ability to communicate effectively. The problem with Newt is how he has conducted his personal life and because of the infamous incident with his first wife, women will not vote for him in droves. If he got 20% of the female vote in a general election I would be amazed.
Fuck you guys. It’s a race war on in the USA and I am picking someone from my side. CAIN is too gimmicky for me.
Then fuck you too.
Believe what you want and vote for who you want, but don’t claim to be the authority for all to follow when it is time to vote.
Picking someone from your side? Just who would that be? Like Father Pfleger from Chicago, or Morris Dees of the SPLC? They are just as extreme as you in their own way and probably have the same skin color as you.
To show what a miserable failure this attack has been, he completely disarmed the media at the National Press club and the public isn’t buying it either, he had the single biggest day of fund raising yesterday that he has had since he got in the campaign.
The old smear campaign isn’t as effective now as it was when the LSM controlled information.
Because conservatives have admirable values and standards, and libturds do not, they will only try and hold us to our own. It’s not that they give their guys(Clinton, Jackson Jr., Frank, Kennedy, Dodd ad infinitum) a pass, they just don’t have any morals and consider themselves exempt from scandal.
Changing the subject, he’s got a pretty good singing voice and I liked his choice of a song.
A look back at Cain before most people had heard of him.
I have been following the Cain “story” with great interest for the last 48 hours. I must admit, I am disturbed by all of it. Oh, not just the part about the Politico article, but by the fact that having read the Politico article, now we are learning that much of what they claimed, is true.
When the story first hit, the Team Cain denied it contained any truth. Cain’s response to a reporter question about the issue was “Have you ever been accused of sexual harassment?” That is hardly an answer to a very serious charge. Then, yesterday morning Cain admitted he had been accused, but didn’t know the outcome of the accusation. By the time he gave an interview to Greta Van Sustern, he did a 180 and not only knew details of the accusations, but also the setterment, which he called more like “severance pay.”
Today, Cain admitted that his campaign had known the story was coming for 10 days because Politico contacted them, and even gave Team Cain the name of one of the women. Cain said they decided to let the story break and then deal with it. Someone needs to tell Cain leading from behind doesn’t work if you are not a Democrat. But it got worse; Cain made accusations of his own to Greta, saying the woman was not a good employee and she was given 3, maybe 2 months salary as “severence” pay.
Now, I’ll ask all you guys this question and let’s see if you can be honest: you are a highly paid head of a very powerful lobbying group and you are accused of sexual harassment, not once, but twice. At least one woman got an attorney, and the organization you work for had to make a settlement, because if it went to court, it could cost a lot, LOT more. Do you really think you would forget any details of that part of your life? A situation that could have not only ruined your career, but your marriage and reputation to boot? Are you honestly telling me that Cain, as of yesterday morning, did not “recall” the events all that well, but by late afternoon he did? Come on, I may be not all that smart, but I’m not all that dumb.
And now we learn that it was not just 3, or maybe 2, months salary the woman was paid, but a full year’s salary. If the claims were baseless as Cain claims, why did he say what he did? And now one of the women’s lawyer is asking for Cain to give permission to the National Restaurant Association to release all the documents of the “investigation” Cain claims they conducted and determined her claims were baseless. Her lawyer says that Cain smeared her by calling into question her as an employee and she wants to go public to defend herself. If Cain is being up front, why is he now saying he doesn’t know if he will do that because he has to confirm with his legal eagles first?
As to the double standard of the press, yes, it’s there. Deal with it because it ain’t gonna change. But let me ask you this, why are all the conservative talking heads defending Cain without knowing all the facts? Where were they when Perry was being slammed as a racist over a rock? Ummmm? Do you think that maybe, just maybe, the media is trying to pick our nominee for us?
Having heard a number of former employees/co-workers to Cain at the NRA speak favorably of him and the fact that there are only two complaints of comments or gestures that the women admitted were “nothing overtly sexual,” and not necessarily “harassment,” along with the fact that the alleged journalist from Politico is also a contributor to MSNBC, I remain skeptical of the veracity in the Politico story. Notice how the story line from the LSM has shifted from the accusations to how he has handled it, or rather the “cover-up.”
I do agree he could have handled this differently, but having never had to deal with something like this I can’t say exactly how it should have been done. Personally, I hope the two women do tell their story publicly for many reasons and I am certain the LSM will not treat their story the same way they did Larry Sinclair’s.
Your last sentence is the crux of the issue for me. Perry has been smeared by the “rock” and now Cain has been smeared for making “uncomfortable” comments to/near two women, yet Mittens remains squeaky-clean, as does B. Hussein. Unless something truly damning comes from the claims, this is just a big yawn to most people, but not the DNC Alinsky machine.
” * ” well if it’s a race war then go ahead and lable me as a race traitor, I already have a strike aginst me because my wife is hispanic, what the hell I’m from Texas and there’s a lot of lovely Tejanas. As I said it’s the world view thing.
Non issue for me. This is just a desperate attack from the leftist media. At least he didn’t lie under oath about it unlike Billy Bob Clinton.
The fact is that the media wants to put Romney on the ticket because its the only way Mocha Jesus is going to win. have you guys ever looked up Vera Baker?
Many believe in a simple formula. Black Man == Playa == Cain
End of issue for me because it takes more than an anonymous report of harassment and Politico’s hatred for God and conservatives to convict a man.
I happen to be very, very empathetic to any person who is intimidated by a powerful boss in public or private employment! Yet, this was way too vague to be something worth spending any more time on.
Sorry, Politico. Do a better job kissing Obamarear than this if we are to join you in renouncing Mr. Cain. If he is guilty of abuse…do more to prove it than tell us that a company paid two employees who felt uncomfortable at his words.
