And gives a giant middle finger to those of us who simply want the Federal government to do their damned jobs in enforcing our existing immigration laws.
Instead we get another entry in the WTF Department, as Obama has created another tax payer-funded government bureaucratic position: a Public Advocate for Illegal Immigrants. Because if you’re a Democrat the answer is always: more government.
No…seriously. Obama has created a new job whose role is to aid and abet criminals by giving them counsel on how to sue Immigration Enforcement officers and agencies.
The Obama administration on Tuesday announced a new “public advocate” charged with listening to immigrants’ concerns about its law enforcement policies — but Republicans said the position amounts to an official mouthpiece for illegal immigrants being deported.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said the advocate will “serve as a point of contact for individuals, including those in immigration proceedings, NGOs and other community and advocacy groups, who have concerns, questions, recommendations or other issues they would like to raise.”
The agency — part of the Homeland Security Department — said Andrew Lorenz-Strait will be the first advocate.
What next? Creating a new Public Advocate for child molesters? How about Public Advocate for Corrupt Politicians? What we really need is a Public Advocate to protect us from Obama.
Hopefully my Representative, Lamar Smith, can put a stop to this nonsense (though I doubt it…):
But Rep. Lamar Smith, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said that meant elevating the concerns of illegal immigrants.
“It’s outrageous that the Obama administration has appointed a taxpayer-funded activist for illegal and criminal immigrants who are detained or ordered deported. The administration all too often acts more like a lobbying firm for illegal immigrants than as an advocate for the American people,” Mr. Smith, Texas Republican, said.
As my friend Michelle Samuelson wrote on Facebook last night, we should all call our Representatives and Senators and remind them that aiding and abetting criminals (which illegal immigrants are) is a felony.
Bryan Preston calls it what it is:
It’s a pander to the open borders segment of the Hispanic community, but it’s also something else. It’s a deliberate finger in the eye of anyone who wants our immigration laws enforced. It’s a deliberate attempt to stir the pot, and generate some heated rhetoric, which the Democrats will then point at to try to convince Hispanic voters that the Republicans are a bunch of racists. It’s a deliberate attempt to make people angry enough to pop off our mouths. That’s what this is.
