And here we go with the anti-gun rhetoric from Chief Sissy Pants.
NEW ORLEANS – “These steps shouldn’t be controversial, they should be common sense,” he told the National Urban League conference.
Obama’s remarks in the Big Easy about guns were the most extensive of his term, going farther than what he said after the 2011 shooting in Tucson, where six people were killed, and former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and a dozen others survived gunshot wounds. White House aides have acknowledged new gun laws are still politically impossible in the current election-year climate, but Obama’s comments suggest he’s at least willing to talk about the issue.
“I – like most Americans – believe that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms,” Obama said. “I think we recognize the traditions of gun ownership passed on from generation to generation, that hunting and shooting are part of a cherished national heritage.
“But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers and not in the hands of crooks. They belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities,” he added.
Nice. This is precisely the type of rhetoric that precedes gun bans and sales restrictions.
But, as Shall Not Be Questioned quips, “And with those comments, AK-47s will be backordered until the election.” Heh. Exactly. Barry Obama: The World’s Greatest Gun Salesman.
But allow me, one of those bitter gun clingers and owners that Obama references, to take a contrary view from that of Obama, who is not a gun owner (and has likely never held or shot one in his entire life): most gun owners would prefer that they be allowed to purchase the type and number of guns they want, in accordance with their full second amendment rights. We’d rather NOT have the government tell us what types of guns (or how many) we can own. Or to tell us for what purpose we might own them.
As Ice-T noted, the reason for the second amendment is a last resort against tyranny. A means for the citizens to rise up against and overthrow a tyrannical government. And for that, we’re going to need AK-47s. And AR-15s, and .50 caliber truck-mounted machine guns, and 100-round capacity magazines.

We’ve learned many things about (NMP) Obama during his 3 1/2 years in office: one of them is that he loves to make pronouncements about something needing to be done, but he’s rarely willing to do the hard work himself, instead, outsourcing the job to others, whether they want to or not. Obviously, doing the work would interfere with his campaign, vacation, and golf time, plus, it’s good to be the king and not have to lift a finger to actually lead.
