Wherein Josh Trevino Administers a Brutal Beat-down of An Over-matched Liberal via Twitter

I was catching up on some blog reading last night while the boy slept peacefully, and found myself glued to my friend and fellow Austinite Will Franklin’s intelligent blog, Willisms.

Near the bottom of this post Visualizing Texas’ Job Dominance Since Before The Recession (long, but full of fantastic data and infograhics), was a Josh Trevino Twitter beat-down (captured via Storify) of an over-matched, under-prepared California Liberal on the Texas vs. California debate (is there really still a debate? Isn’t the mass exodus of Californians and California business heading East on I-10 into Texas the only metric you really need to understand?).

Olson, my man, you should have stuck with climate and scenery arguments, because California will win those. The ones you rehashed from the left’s dozen-year-old (at least) anti-Texas playbook just don’t stand up to any sort of serious scrutiny.

The enmity from smug coastal liberals toward Texas is really just laziness for some but borders on paranoid obsession for some, like New York Times columnist Gail Collins. But you expect that from an elitist pseudo-intellectual from New York. Hating on the rubes in flyover country probably written into the New York City Constitution. But if you thought Texas media were any less ridiculous, think again.

Silly, Liberals…facts (and reality) just aren’t your friends, are they?

When are people going to learn that it is a very, very bad idea to pick a Twitter fight with Josh Trevino? Especially when the topics are: Texas, History, Texas History, Military History, or…well…just about anything, really.

Oh, by the way, in case you haven’t heard Josh’s good news: He has left the Texas Public Policy Foundation and is now a Conservative voice writing for the Liberal Texas Monthly and The Guardian.

UPDATE (August 24) — Well that was short lived. The Guardian has caved to pro-Islamists and have fired Joshua. Because freedom of speech doesn’t mean the same thing in England as it does here in the states…and, well, because the Gaurdian does have a well-deserved anti-Isreal pro-Islamist agenda. And because they are cowards.
