EXECUTION WATCH: Bobby Lee Hines (TX)

21 years on death row in entirely too long.
UPDATE: He’s dead. Justice has (finally) been served.
On his death bed, Hines (finally) confessed his sins. There is no doubt about his guilt, and he received the penalty he deserved, and which should have been delivered years and years ago.
And then after admitting his guilt he said he loved his family, believed life in prison would be a worse punishment, and then declared that he was “going home.”
If he honestly believed that “life in prison” is a worse punishment than the death penalty, why did he fight so hard for the “worse” punishment? Why do
NEXT up we have a rare Halloween execution scheduled, when Donnie Lee Roberts, Jr. will be executed for shooting his girl friend in the head and robbing her.

- Thug: Anthony Lee Hines (19 at time of offense)
- Date of Execution: October 24, 2012, sometime shortly after 6:00 pm HTT
- Date of Crime: October 20, 1991
- Victim(s): Michelle Wendy Haupt, 26
- Last Meal: Same shit salad being fed to every other thug on the row that day
- Final Words: “I know that I took somebody special from y’all,” he said as Haupt’s father stood a few feet away, watching through a window. “I know it wasn’t right, it was wrong. I wish I could give it back, but I know I can’t. I wish there was something I could do.”
21 years.
It’s been 21 freak’n years since this PoS, evil animal stabbed Michelle Haupt to death with an ice pick. All for 4 packs of cigarettes and a bowl full of pennies.
And it’s taken our justice department 21 years and 4 days to exact the just punishment that he deserves.
Hanes has already evaded the death chamber twice. He received a stay in 2003 for an Atkins claim. An second execution date was set for June 6, 2012, but this date was voluntarily withdrawn on May 16, 2012, by the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office so that it could conduct DNA testing on fingernail clippings collected from the victim’s body. Preliminary results obtained on May 15, 2012, could not exclude Hines as a source of the DNA. Additional testing completed on August 31 also did not exclude Hines as a source of the DNA.
___________
On another note, a few years ago the TDCJ changed the criminal profile page to a more modern HTML page. Prior to that, the criminal page was just a scanned image of their profile. You hardly see any more of the old style pages like Bobby Hines’. For one, the old pages actually listed the name of the victim(s), which for some reason they no longer include on the new pages.

If you think Hines’ execution took too long, Preston Hughes has been on death row so long he has an old 3-digit inmate number.
I have warm fuzzies about Hines being executed tomorrow. I haven’t seen anything from the 5th Circuit or the SCOTUS on any appeals–maybe after the DNA evidence didn’t help his cause they had the sense to give up (and his Atkins claim was denied last year by the 5th Circuit and the SCOTUS denied cert).
Bones will need to report tomorrow.
There is nothing that can be filed on behalf of Bobby Hines, HE WILL DIE.
Never say never.
Ferguson’s case in Florida is a good example. There were actually FOUR SCOTUS orders issued yesterday in that matter; three denied a stay of execution and (when he finally got a court to stay the execution) the fourth denied the State of Florida’s appeal to overturn the stay.
Under 12 hours to go.
I believe there is a 92% chance that Bobby Hines will be executed today. Well done Texas that is number 11 and keeps you on top of the execution league table. Well done you should be really proud of your selves! Keep up the good work. I have a serious suggestion. Maybe they should start executing people for being obese! That way you could execute 70% of the Texas population. Think about all of the money you would save on Hamburgers!
We are proud of serving justice to the dregs of society. Sorry you would prefer us to feed and sleep them for 50-60 years, giving others reason to believe that crime does pay.
Keeping someone confined to a 10ft x 6 ft cell for 95% of their life is hardly showing that crime pays! I would argue that this is a greater form of punishment than ending their lifes! By the sounds of it lethal injection is a very painless way to go. I would also argue that you don’t always get the conviction right 100% of the time! Therefore, there are a small number of cases where innocient people are sentenced to death.
Any specifics on “innocent people executed”?
Oh and before you spit out “Cameron Todd Willingham”, the City of Corsicana issued a 21-page rebuttal to the “expert report”. You can find it on the Wikipedia article for Willingham.
And Carlos DeLuna? He was shown the mugshot of every “Carlos Hernandez” in Corpus Christi (including the one that DeLuna supporters claim was the real murderer), and not one time did he ever identify who Hernandez was. Again, its on the Wikipedia article for DeLuna.
Again, we prefer not to coddle our criminals in Texas.
I wasn’t going to spit out Willingham. However, it is a question of having a point of view on the case. It is also not a question of coddling criminals either! However, while you mention Willingham the expert report did raise enough questions! Do you honestly believe that Texas and every other state in the Union has got it right everytime?
RE: anonymous obese/hamburgers. When “Hamburgers” begin to violently assault, strangle & stab citizens 18 times, we’ll take the steps needed to protect every sect of society (including incarcerated society) from the extreme violence that such “Hamburgers” pose to all of society. I’ll assume that you’re both opposed to capital punishment but don’t comprehend the function that capital Punishment plays within society. Capital punishment isn’t about killing the killer, it wasn’t conceived out of revenge for the victims family or society in general.? Capital punishment is solely about permanently removing those extreme violent criminals that should never be released back into any sect of society, including incarcerated society. State execution of an indifferent, cold hearted murderer, is for the good of all of society. BTW: Capital punishment is serious business, a recommendation of a death sentence is never given without careful consideration from the jury.
I started with White Castle sliders. No one told me they were addictive. It was only a short time before I was mainlining triple Whoppers with cheese and doing stop N’ robs to feed my habit. Sob! The same of it all!
your a cunt mate
Take your anti-death-penalty clap trap elsewhere, mate. Like to prisontalk.com or hug-a-thug.com or somewhere else.
Im a friend of wendy’s from 21 years ago the last time i saw her was thursday nitght before that freakeing killer killed her staurday… I hate him and wish we could do to him what he did to ourf friend,
I love you Wendy Justice is done for you tonight….May you rest in peace
I too was a friend of Wendy’s and yes I hate him too! I so wished we could have done to him what he done to her, as she suffered in a way that no other should ever have to go through! I truely HATE Bobby Lee Hines, and who cares what his father did to him as a child, that isn’t even half the reason he was were he was! HE was there because Bobby was a KILLER and had no morals of life himself! His father too is in prison for the rape of his own grand-daughter! Now tell me this family is all together? I think NOT. However Bobby is now gone and we can all know justice has been served and hopefully now our beloved Wendy can rest in peace knowing that his JERK is now gone to HELL!
We Love you Wendy! Keep smiling down upon us!
And now comes Anthony Lee Hines.
That it has taken so long for justice to be served is atrocious, but, thankfully, inevitable.
That he has been able to waste our resources, as well as oxygen, for these twenty one years after murdering Michelle Wendy Haupt shows both a tribute to our careful and deliberate justice system, as well as its flaws.
I have searched for an image of Ms. Haupt and sadly haven’t been able to find one. I always try to put a face to the young life that was so brutally taken and it is often very difficult when the crime occurred so long ago.
I have it on good authority that Bones has every intention of being in attendance.
It’s about time this shitbag received his kettle of death juice, and tomorrow justice will be served!
I heard that good old Hines is very nervous and he claims to be framed by the state and his groupies are all crying foul of another innocent man being put to death how sad awwwww. i hope the devil sticks an ice pic the size of an airplane up his lame ugly ass. Have a nice trip to hell scumbag!!
Actually the commenters at Prison Talk aren’t saying much on Hines. They’re not even arguing about his retardation claims. The last post on his thread over there was over a week ago and it was from a run-of-the-mill anti-death penalty advocate, asking others to sign a petition asking for clemency.
I guess this murderer will be meeting you in Hell as well!!! Burn Baby Burn!!
For Burn Baby Burn -If you really, really believe there’s a Hell, then that means you must believe in Heaven, too which means there is a loving God who has the power and will to forgive those who society cannot. If Bobby made his peace with that God, he could actually be headed straight there tonight, maybe he gets a 5 star cloud forever and a bear hug from the Big Guy. Like Jesus said to Brutus, “tonight you will be with me in paradise.” Look in your own heart – where are you headed?
Save your religious threats for those murderous POS of whom you defend! Good, honest, law abiding people have no fear of suffering revenge from their God. Hines’s time is ending right now, say a prayer for him since you appear so worried about souls burning within your Hell. Good riddance Bobby Hines; May your death be swift & painless as you slip into eternal darkness.
I have nothing, but disdain for what Hines did. I feel sick for the victim, this was a horrendous crime, but I still believe that he had a bad beginning, shitty parents and a worthless existence. That doesnt justify what he did, but our society lets that happen and then we act SO friggin surprised when the Bobby’s of this world mess up amd take an innocent life. I am not a religious zealot, far from it, not even sure I believe in God sometimes, but it’s just too easy to caulk it up to him being a loser. Where were you when this 12 year old, 12 year old!!, was stealing cars and wondering why nobody loved him enough? Are you taking in kids in trouble into your home or just waiting until you can advocate for their deaths? What are you doing to keep them from turning into killers? Stop monitoring this site and go save the next Bobby and the next victim.
21 years on the row?? texas is too lenient with these PoS! He should’ve been hung thesame week of his conviction on the nearest tree! now that is the defintion of ‘swift justice’
Mimi–Hines’ case is actually an anomaly (as with Preston Hughes next month). Even with all the appeals we usually manage to carry out a sentence within 8-10 years. After all we have the most active execution chamber in the free world.
The way I see it is there is very little difference between the free world and the dictatorships! In fact I would go further and say that the conditions in South American and African prisons are no different than the the prisons in Texas! Therefore, why bother even refering to the free world in the first place!!!
hhahaha….you talk as if you have experience in all places!! My guess is you should spend more time in a south american, african or Texas prison and get back to us with your “expert” opinion. All the same huh?! Wow, you really have no clue about anything do you?
then, texas should over haul the whole shinbang! a system that allows PoS like Bobby Hines to steal oxygen this long needs total over hauling..yeah sir!
I’m not from Texas but I’d agree that the appellate process could be streamlined to take no longer than 5 years. The courts could force those condemned death row inmates to become proactive in getting their lawyers to file within 60 days. I had followed the appellate case of Troy A Davis v Georgia for several years. I was appalled that Davis was allowed to extend his life for over 20 years & that the race-hustlers had successfully brainwashed the media driven mobs which were nearly successful at pressuring the State to grant Davis a new trial. Like my home State in New England, it appears that Texas would never succumb to the political tactic of the media frenzied mob affecting justice that’s demanded by law abiding citizens of Texas society. The anonymous from foreign lands come to harrass this site yet have no clue as to the meaning as to the depth of the term “don’t tread on me”
21 yrs.. there are still several on the row that have been there are still around thirty with 3 digit numbers and 6 have been there since the 70′s, that is if TDCJ is up to date. I say we have a cleaning day and get rid of all the old garbage.. anyways back to the task at hand tonight, Hines is the poster child for what capital murder is.. barbaric murder for nothing but chump change… Selfish, greedy, sociopaths with no regard for life… So, they get what they deserve in the end… Sometimes just takes a little longer…
Looking at the way death row prisoners are treated at Polunsky I guess this in fact an easy way out. By the way where do you get the idea of Poster Child! This isn’t the movies! LOL
well not “THE” poster child, but definitely “A” poster child… I am refering to the violence and selfishness of the murder he commited… just like the rest of the excrement on death row.. I have no pity for these assholes… they get what they deserve.. even if it is an easy way out compared to what they did to others… if it was my world i would hand them over to the victims families to deal with as they please… I know if one of these pricks did something to my loved ones, i would want the SOB dead, and would want to do it myself.. at LEAST as violently as what they had perpetrated…
At least we don’t have a controversy over shaving off a beard to get him in the court room.
Not any longer Fella! He is all yours! LOL. By the way do you want anymore?
Preston Hughes is one of those with a 3-digit number; his execution comes up next month. Though he’s filed appeals claiming that the change to the one-drug execution method is “inhumane”.
Why don’t you save all the trouble over lethal injection and bring back the Electric Chair? Or maybe go a step further a introduce Hanging, Drawing and Quartering and stick all the Heads of executed Criminals on Bridge leading up to Huntsville.
Well, we do have an execution scheduled for Halloween …
And I actually believe we should go back to public executions. And they should be mandatory watching for all convicts in the prison system.
Anon….stop being a little pussy. Yes we get it…. you don’t agree with our form of justice. Too fucking bad shit head. It is the law of “OUR” land. If you disagree, move here and vote to change things. Until then, fuck off, let TEXANS deal with our trash the way “WE” choose.
Utah still offers their condemned the option of requesting death by firing squad. I’m somewhat certain that Michael Archuleta had opted for execution by firing squad until Utah stayed his April 5th execution to allow for his appellate process. He’ll be coming back around by mid 2014.
hell yes we should go back to public executions… show these young wanna be thugs out there what is in store for them should they commit the crimes… THAT would be a deterent. The way it is now, the vast majority of people dont even know we are juicing one. It should be a PUBLIC spectacle on the courthouse lawn.. talk about a shock program that would be effective!!…
Do something other than whining about a murdering POS & attempting to afflict these people here with your guilt trip & hints of religious reprisal. Maybe you’d actually be able to make a difference were you to volunteer your time mentoring or counseling youngsters that are in danger of becoming violent adult criminals.
Oh I’ve been an advocate of bringing back PUBLIC hangings for YEARS.
We have 4 1/2 hours to go. Nothing from either the 5th Circuit or the SCOTUS so far today (not that I’m expecting anything but I do check to make sure).
It appears that execution #1,239 in the history of the state of Texas (and #487 in the “modern era”, that being after the death penalty was allowed to resume in the Gregg v. Georgia case) will take place this evening.
Under three hours to go now. Nothing from 5th Circuit or SCOTUS on their websites.
Hines is either at Huntsville or on his way as I write this.
The Florida 11th Circus Of Appeals has to be comprised of spineless bleeding heart libtards. At least society can count upon Governor Rick Perry to have a pair & refuse to be intimidated by political pressure that those guilt afflicted bunny huggers incessantly attempt to exert against elected officials. At 7:15 EST this evening, I’m bidding good riddance to another murderous POS. I’ll be barbecuing T-bones, a few Scotch & ice & I’ve a box of fireworks that I’ll light after dark to bid farewell to another murderous soul that’s unfit to exist within any sect of society.
What a waste of oxygen, absolute piece of shit.
Thank God for Texas, at least one state still has it right!!!! Bring? the needle
Clemency has been denied and a press release from his attorney has stated he is procedurally barred from filing further appeals.
That’s the best news that I’ve heard all evening. Thank Texas’s Governor Rick Perry for refusing to be intimidated by the anti’s & not denying the justice that society demands of the State. Looks as though it’s time for all these Bunny Huggers to “hit the road Jack, don’t you come back no more”. I’m sure they’ll immediately begin whining for South Dakota’s Donald Moeller & Texas’s Donnie Roberts.
That is awesome!! time to pay the fiddler for this sorry sack of shit then, satan is breathing in his ear now! bet he is shaking like a dog shittin’ a peach seed…
I tried to post a pic.
I’ve got a pic.
hahaa
With no further appeals possible, and clemency denied, all Hines can hope for is that Governor Perry will issue a one-time, 30-day reprieve.
I’m not holding my breath on this happening and neither should anyone else.
Under one hour to go …
Bobby wanted gain without pain, now his bill’s in the mail. He’s counting in the dark, the last beats of his pounding heart.
Does anyone know what has happened to him yet? Did they kill him?
Does anyone know what has happened to him? Have they killed him yet, or did the court file a 30 day save?
It was mentioned earlier that Hines had no more recourse in the courts. And Perry isn’t about to grant a 30-day stay. It’s almost over.
I think Texas has an incredible justice system, especially that used for the death penalty. The only people that complain about the states justice system are 1. The inmates 2. Their family 3. The UK wives/groupies 4. Left Wing groups 5.California. No one said that capital punishment was suppose to look pretty. Texas has demonstrated time and time again that the business of “executing” prisoners can be performed in an efficient manner. The department of corrections job is to ensure death occurs. It is left up to the courts to decide Guilt/Innocence and I think the vast majority of opponents to capital punishment don’t understand that.
I have to ask everyone on here if its really fair. I understand that he did a horrible thing and I do not think he should get off easy, but is the death penalty really necessary? He is obviously a really troubled man and if anyone were sane they would not do shit like what he did, so obviously he was insane. Therefore is not the government just as insane for putting him to death. It is so sick and disgusting that we human beings think that we have the right to take another persons life in any situation. It is disgusting that he thought he could do such a thing. Whats even more disgusting is that you people cheer over the fact that a human being is put to death. How many people have to die before we realize that the death penalty DOES NOT HELP! We change nothing by stabbing these people with needles. Im sorry for the family that lost the girl he murdered and my prayers go out to them. I almost think that it is worse for the family of Bobby then the family of the girl. Instead of finding him dead, his family has to sit there with no control or possibility of helping him, watching their son, terrified, be stabbed with a needle never to breath, speak, sit in a jail cell, again. THEY have to WATCH him die. SO what if they have the option of watching or not… they still have the knowledge of his death happening at that very moment. Just for a moment, imagine that one day you went into someones house without the intention of killing, and you were about to take their stuff but they saw you. You panic and do the wrong thing and they end up dead. YOu would regret that wouldn’t you? you would feel horrible for the rest of your life. Isn’t that more punishment then not having to deal with that guilt because of your own death? For the rest of his life he will be locked up no matter what. Why should we exploit ourselves as human beings. Why should we stoop to his level. WHy the fuck does the world have to be this cruel. We are not any better then him because of what we are doing to him. THe government is just as insane. You are just as insane. Imagine being strapped down to that gurney to die. Just for a movement… imagine that your life was taken from you.

If I don’t go into someone’s house looking to steal from them I have nothing to regret. And I won’t ever have to imagine that I’m strapped on the gurney waiting to die.
Anyone who already has a lack of respect for society by stealing already has few regrets, otherwise they wouldn’t steal.
And there is no guarantee that he would be locked up forever, or that he won’t escape. One of the Texas 7 was in jail on capital murder with a life sentence, he escaped and killed Officer Hawkins.
Don’t do the crime and you won’t do the time. Do the crime, do the time, and if it means death, so be it.
I? couldn’t care less about his family suffering after he’s dead…
No, not necessary, it is essential to a just society.
He and his family had 21 years of letters, phone calls, visits. How dare you compare the victim and her family to these low lifes. He got married while on death row – something the victim was never allowed to do. He lied about his guilt to the bitter end so don’t tell me he felt remorse. He didn’t. All he cared about was his worthless self. Now he can never hurt anyone again.
Suck it up, weenie!
You are just as sick as he is if you kill him for what he did. By agreeing to the death penalty you are a murder too. Suck it yourself.
*sigh*
For the trillionth time:
Jojoe “imagine that one day you went into someones house without the intention of killing, and you were about to take their stuff but they saw you. You panic and do the wrong thing and they end up dead”. 1st: Don’t bother with your fear of death tactic, we’re law abiding citizens that have ne fear of society demanding we sacrificed our life due to murdering a member of society. We treat other people with respect & dignity that we expect to also be treated with. 2nd: Capital punishment was never meant to be State sanctioned revenge for neither the victims loved ones nor friends, the State doesn’t concern itself with whether the family feels the victim to be avenged. Capital punishment is the legal means of the State to protect all of society (including incarcerated society) from those extreme violent felons that have been deemed too dangerous to ever be released back into any sect of society. Execution of a death sentence that the jury has recommended & the Court has passed upon a convicted extreme violent felon is the mechanism that enables the State to protect society by way of permanently eliminating those extreme violent felons deemed to be unfit to exist within society. Capital punishment is only applicable to those deemed to be the worst of the worst of society. Here in the USA we have aggravating & mitigating circumstances that dictate when it’s appropriate for the jury to recommend the sentencing judge to impose a sentence of death. I’m not a citizen of Texas so I’m not attempting to influence how the citizens of Texas apply their laws or sentence their convicted extreme violent felons. I support capital punishment so long as the accused is afforded due process of law & their appellate rights are protected…. I’d recommend you leave your emotions behind & take a closer, impartial look at capital punishment. Hakuna ma tata
It still is disgusting that sane human beings put people to death no matter what their crime.
Im not saying he didn’t deserve it. I honestly think a better punishment would be that he would be put in a cage with rabid starved animals… but I think that it is absolute disgusting that sane people actually kill each other. Im not religiously infatuated, but honestly I believe that god created human beings equal and its shit that we think we have the right to actually decide if someone should live or not.
So you want animals to be starved and for them to rip apart people — you are a sick fuck which is no shock after reading your comments.
“Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man.

Anonymous, good observation. JJ is into cruel and unusual punishment, and most likely bestiality.
Thats not what I meant… Seriously people. I was only saying that he should die, but not by another humans hand.
JJ, fuck off troll douche nozzle.
It has to be by a perosn’s hand. Otherwise, we are not better than the murderers. A person, or in our case, the State, has to take up responsibility for this action. I truely wish we NEVER had to execute somone. BUT until the murderers stop, we have no choice because we have to secure safety for our citizens.
Have respect. Seriously. I didn’t call you shit. I merely stated an opinion that a lot of people share, and you stated yours. Thanks, but the name calling is seriously unnecessary and irrelevant to the topic at hand.
Fuck off. You’ve done nothing but insult people here.
Andri, I think you have a good point and I see what you are saying.
Thank you.
Im not insulting people Anonymous, I am just trying to show you the other side of the argument. I see your points and I understand them. It doesn’t mean I personally agree with them though. You could at least pretend to be a civil person. Seriously.
You fucking did come here and insult everyone. You’ve shown us the antiDP side: a bunch of sick murderer loving loons who are probably one step away from committing capital murder yourselves. Hines is worm food. Seriously.
Hmm so JoJoe doesn’t want the fuckers to die “by human hands”? Oh dude that one is so easy it’s ridiculous.Toos the fuckers into…
a cage full of hungry lions,
a pit full of some of the more lethal scorpions known to man. i
a rattle snake den.
A tank full of sharks in a feeding frenzy
the waters off the california coast, with his hands cuff…the humbolt squid hordes don’t give a flying fuck about what they eat and have try to pull down and eat more than one diver….
over the the fence into a gator farm., or into a zoo’s gator/croc exhibit..
the list is practically endless.
There now JJ…feel better? *snort*
my brothers life was taken away from him a long time ago, i know it doesnt make it right, but really eye for an eye, my brother has suffered so much, im thankful for the people in my life who guided me in the right direction, just if my brother had the luck i did he wouldnt be dead know rip peace brother we will see each other some day and rick perry god bless your soul
It is now under process.
When will we know?
Wait for it…
He’s dead. Hallelujah and amen.
He’s DEAD, Jim!
/btw, this statement is a hyperlink to the story
Have you ever thought for a minute just how dangerous it was to serve on the USS Enterprise? Week after week poor Bones would bend over a limp body with his weird buzzy device and say “He’s dead, Jim!’ – This stuff never gets old – BRILLIANT
Avec plaisir.
I wish you people understood and had respect for others. Just because he didn’t, does not give you the right to do the same.
I have plenty of respect for others. But what YOU do not undertand is that this POS killed a young woman. He was found guilty, and finally his sentence was imposed. His time is prison was just to be held there.
Now, Where were Miss Haupt’s appeals? Where were her lawyers, a Judge, jury, appeals courts? All she had was the murderer, bobby hines. And he gave no pity to her, no kindness, no stay.
Now he is Satan’s bytch for the rest of eternity.
Damnation to thug-huggers and maggot mavens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish you understood that it not only gives us every right to execute a murderer, it is our duty.
no2Liberals, you are exactly right. Executing a muderer in pubic, is also an educational lesson to everyone. If you do this, YOU WILL DIE. Somehow, that part always evades the thug-huggers.
I lived in a foreign country for several years, long ago.
They televised a live execution with no advance notice. After watching the man executed by a firing squad they then informed us what we had just seen. Let me tell you, for the next several months I was the best citizen EVAH! I didn’t just stop at a stop sign, I lingered.
Its just wrong that people who kill people are being killed by people. Its disgusting.
And you are a complete idiot.
no2liberals. No ones an idiot for having a different opinion. Show some respect. Or at least be civil about your opinion and not personal. You don’t even know me.
Fuck off, idiot.
no2liberals Im sorry your such an ugly person… rotting from the inside out.
You should be sorry for your self, idiot.
Well I’m not
Im sorry for you… you need to get mental help.
[fuck off, idiot]
If Im bothering you then don’t respond. Its as easy as that. IDIOT
[n2l says:fuck off, idiot]
Jojoe, dont start off screaming yourself. Relax.
The Death penalty is a VERY polarizing issue. At places like this, people are FOR it because of tragedy or other horror in people’s lives that CANNOT be undone. Big Sis, a wonderful person and a poster here, lost her little sister to murder. The POS that killed her is trying at ever turn to get off. It is a terrible situation but please remember that to be where hines was, he had to kill another human being, often for no reason.
And some of us are/were in law enforcement and don’t suffer fools gladly.
no trust in law enforcement
My favorite quote comes from J. Edgar Hoover – “justice is incidental to law and order.” Law enforcement serves an important function in this regard. Anyone who demeans the criminal justice system and police officers who risk their lives to chase scums of the earth – perhaps needs to move to a society that does not practice justice as we know it. Why don’t you try it sometime… Good luck to you…
Nicely put.
@jojoe There are plenty of sites for people who think like you. thuglovers.com or whatever? There you can whine and cry with other people who share your views. Most on this site have pity for the VICTIMS and their FAMILIES. Another thing to keep in mind is nothing anyone says on here can execute or save a thug. The law and the courts handle that.
Why not whine to the governor of Texas? Or the court system? You are entitled to your opinions just as we are but this isn’t a good site to get sympathy for your thinking.
For the most part, I disagree with capital punishment.
When I read about Bobby Hines, however, I thought to myself, ‘they created the death penalty for men like Bobby’.
@jajoe I think your methods of debating this issue are extremely childish and your points are, well, flawed.
You spoke about entering someone’s house to burglarize it and panicking and KILLING an unarmed young lady. Not running away. Not merely threatening or injuring. Most of us don’t flip out and murder people when we panic. Also, if he would have made an effort to EXPLAIN it that way to the jury, it’s very likely that they would have given him a bit more sympathy… Google his name and see how many people he manipulated into thinking he was innocent. Big ups to the Dallas DA that made sure he got the evidence tested so he couldn’t pull the ‘martyr act’ on his death bed like so many before him.
I think that putting a criminal on a cage with rabid anymals is the dumbest shit I’ve heard all year. You DO realize that if you put someone in a cage with ferocious animals you’re killing them, right? It’s still carried out by human hands and you’re pretty much doing the same exact thing as lethal injection- only in a far more sadistic way.
And again buddy, compared to others that post here I’m extremely liberal.
Now @jajoe, scroll upwards and see the comments from Michelle’s old friends that still carry the pain of her death to this day. Have a little tact and know when and where you should just keep your mouth shut. There’s a time and a place for everything and if you thought you’d sweep pro DP people off their feet/receive positive responses for making excuses for a man who brutally murdered a girl and lied about doing it for 21 years, you’re a moron.
That’s nothing personal. Anyone who does that is a moron in my book and that’s my opinion; I don’t have to know you to know that you’re socially inept.
If I were a friend of Michelle’s I would be raging hard at people like you.
Additionally, whining about this man having a wife that now has to deal with his demise is silly. If she’s not ready to deal with a loss of that capacity, she should try dating outside of death row. He probably lied to her about his ‘innocence’ too. Imagine that.
Sorry about any typos in above post, typing on my phone.
Shameless bump of this well-worn thread to provide the latest update on the upcoming October 31, 2012 scheduled execution of Donnie Roberts.
The Supreme Court denied certiorari!
(It is included within a pile of various orders referenced below. Starting on page 3 there is a long list of cases in which the Supreme Court denied certiorari, Roberts is listed on the middle of page 5 under the caption “12-5682 ROBERTS, DONNIE L. V. THALER, DIR., TX DCJ”.)

And here is the Attorney General’s press release mentioning the upcoming event:

So unless there is some other stuff going on (I did not see anything from the 5th Circuit) it appears that Roberts will experience the ultimate Halloween Fright Fest sometime after 6PM Huntsville time.
There is virtually no discussion over on the dark side (Prison Talk) on Roberts’ case (there is a thread with only two posts, the last one being over two months ago). So he appears not to have any women clamoring for him (considering he killed his last one I’m surprised some hybristophiliac hasn’t “married” him yet).
Bones will need to take a small break from passing out Halloween candy that evening.
FYI, even the thug lovers at Amnesty International USA don’t have their usual petition drive to spare Donnie. Maybe they’ve come to their senses…
I envy your penalties. Wish we had them here.
