Best Moments from Last Night’s CMA Awards
I’m a huge country music fan. Yeah…I know, big shocker, huh? There simply isn’t a group of “celebrities” who seem to openly and unapologetically love their country more than these folks.
So of course I watched last night’s Country Music Association (CMA) Awards show, which is much more a giant concert of my favorite singers than it is an awards show. And last night was 3 hours of the best television I’ve watched since…well, since watching Romney dismantle a hapless Obama in their first Presidential debate in Denver.
I’ve been a big fan of Blake Shelton and his wife, Miranda Lambert, for quite some time. So it was nice to see them have one helluva big night at the CMAs last night, to include:
- Entertainer of the Year (Blake)
- Female Vocalist of the Year (Miranda)
- Male Vocalist of the Year (Blake)
- Song of the Year (“Over You”, written by Blake and Miranda, performed by Miranda)
Perhaps the best moment of the night was when Blake and Miranda took the stage to accept their award for Best Song:
I’ve heard this song dozens of times, but never knew the story behind it. No wonder Miranda was moved to tears.
Here’s the full video for “Over You”, if you’ve never heard the song before:
Also a good moment, and one Liberals would have hated, was when Little Big Town accepted their award for Vocal Group of the Year. Kathryn Jean Lopez, who was also live tweeting the awards last night, caught it, too:
Little Big Town: Thank you to “our mommas and daddies and Jesus. And our babies and Jesus.” #CMA

Little Big Town just got people standing “for Jesus.” #CMA

Yep…Little Big Town’s enthusiastic acceptance was full of praise for our Lord and Savior. And when they asked the audience to “stand for Jesus,” well, the entire audience was up on their feet.

I only saw portions of it as I’m a big fan of Person of Interest. But, as usual, the CMA was a great show and it’s great to see performers who live this country, are religious, and care about others beside themselves.
