Bad Idea: Jeb Bush Mulling Over a Run for the White House in 2016
Don’t do it, Jeb. Don’t waste your money and our time.
We’re not voting for you. Sorry, but the Bush name is too toxic in this political climate (fairly or unfairly). Politically dynastic families are something that just needs to die.
Via National Review:
Former Florida governor Jeb Bush met Monday with a group of his former staffers at the J. W. Marriott hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue, just steps from the White House. Bush, a potential 2016 presidential contender, spent an hour in the hotel’s Cannon room, reminiscing and entertaining questions about his political future.
In an interview with NRO, Bush did not rule out a presidential run. “I am here to catch up with folks and promote education reform,” he said, smiling.
When asked again whether he will issue a Sherman-type statement about his future, Bush remained coy. “We have an alumni group that I like keeping in touch with,” he said. “I’m here to focus on educational reform, and that’s what I’m going to tell people.”
Neil Newhouse, Mitt Romney’s campaign pollster, was at the meeting, as were several veteran Florida operatives.
Just go away, Jeb. Seriously. And take Rick Santorum with you, where ever you go.
And I agree wholeheartedly with this commenter: “If Jeb Bush or Chris Christie is the GOP nominee in 2016, I will work night and day for the Libertarian Party.”

I can’t say whom I would or would not vote for three and a half years from now. I would probably not vote for Jeb Bush in the primary, but even that would have to depend on who else was running,
All we can do is hope that the GOP pulls their head out before 2016. A forlorn hope perhaps, but its all we’ve got.
I agree that the name Bush is simply not a name the public wants to hear from for a very long time. Even though Jeb may have done good things for Florida, it really doesn’t matter. I agree with Colin that the GOP needs to take a good hard look at who they are, what they stand for and whether the old guard is going to continue and dominate the party. If so, we maybe in for a long drought with mediocre candidates. Prime example, even as interesting as Chris Christie looked for a while, he swayed pretty easily in the wind and that may have impacted his popularity.
