Michael Yon just published this depressing email from from a Marine Field Grade Officer serving in Afghanistan:
Michael,
…the election has put a damper on my motivation to contribute. What I would really like to write about is the loss of faith and confidence in our administration and. I found myself seriously considering resigning my commission last week and I haven’t spoken to a single one of my peers that doesn’t feel similarly.
I am very concerned that we’re reaching a point where many people like me are seriously questioning why they would risk everything in defense of a country that they no longer recognize and in service to an administration that will sacrifice American lives and careers for politics without batting an eye. But of course I can’t really write about that until I retire next year.
Maybe I’m being overly dramatic, but the debacle in [Afghanistan], 10 years of General and Flag officers failing to lead us, sequestration, the discussions about significantly scaling back retirement benefits for military members and the significant decrease in funding available for training, leads me to believe that we are facing a perfect storm that will decimate morale and will cause a massive exodus of the good people from military service.
I think there are a lot of us who feel betrayed by a clueless, selfish nation that thinks that because they say “thank you” to a veteran from time to time, we will continue to do the heavy lifting and they can keep maxing out the credit card at the mall. That scares the hell out of me.
Anyway, sorry for the rant. As always, your thoughts on any of this are of great interest to me…
I still have a lot of friends serving, and to a man (and a few women) they all feel this way about their Commander-in-Chief and those sheep that follow/support him.
The men and women who serve in our military are — across the board — the very best citizens that our nation has to offer. There is no other group who loves this country more, or is more vested in keeping her free and safe.
Nobody.
And that they stand so overwhelmingly against Obama is telling. I stand on the side of my fellow brothers- and sisters-in-arms. If you stand with Obama, you stand against them. You are the enemy. And I hope you suffer for you.

I would like Michael Yon to relay a message back to this service member to have faith, and know that 2/3rds of America DOES truly appreciate our men and women in the military. We at home are in a great fight to reclaim America back from the other 1/3rd, power grabbing liberals, who are hell bent on taking down our constitution and the American way of life. The 2012 election was a great loss to most and we are trying to affect a recount of the vote, as well get the military vote counted. Stay true to America, Marine, we may need your wisdom once you get home.
I would also like to send a message to the marines fighting for our rights. Please keep the faith. You are not in this alone. 2/3rds of Americans do stand beside our Military and support you. All of those petitions on the white house site to secede is because we understand as you do that this country is going to hell in a handbasket under the current administration. That they do not care about our military or our citizens. The 1/3rd percent of the Americans are all about the gimme attitude, but that is not the majority. We the People are fed up and we stand with you, not behind you!
Unlike so many others who, only with the re-election of Obama, have deemed America in crisis, I psychologically seceded from the U.S. four years ago. Whether one chooses to date America’s present course being set in 1865, or 1912, or 1932, or 1965 is irrelevant; the point is the trajectory has been clear for many years. The tragedy is that so many took no notice, or still believe(d) there was anything to reclaim.
An officer with many years of experience and a pension to worry about may decide to wait a few years before leaving, but many of the enlisted guys (White, conservative, and/or Christian) are getting out as soon as their term is up. They’ve seen the writing on the wall and have no desire to remain where they clearly are not wanted, by the new, feminized/homosexualized/colorized armed forces.
While I have the utmost respect for the traditional male soldier and the combat arms, I cannot say the same about our “armed forces” in general. I do not believe women ought to serve, other than in support roles. I cannot claim to “honor” a military which saw not one – NOT ONE – open and principled senior officer resignation when overt homosexuals were honored. As Michael Yon’s correspondent noted, they’re fighting and dying under restricted and ridiculous rules, fostered by an administration that despises them and in support of a tribal, Muslim land. Can one truly “honor” that sort of service? Or, perhaps, are too many now realizing, too late, they they are mere chumps in this charade?
I fully agree with you Sheila. Adding that when you throw God out of every aspect of public life, you end up with pure evil being put in charge. What will the takers do when there is nothing left to take?
Do not lose heart…in 1 1/2 years the country will be focused on the 2014 interim elections…the voting turnout will be much lower (like 2010) and the glaring incompetence of failed policies will be so evident that Republicans will win big. The senate will come under Rep control and the house Rep control will be increased. 1 year after that the political season will get rolling to replace BHO in 2016. A lot of damage will have been done, but the future looks like a return to sanity from chaos. I hope.

Unfortunately if this happens? For Obama/Libs/Progressives/50.6% of 2012 Voters, this will be: ‘Mission Accomplished‘ I.e., a feature, not a bug.
