Mel Reynolds: Replacing One Degenerate in Congress with Another

Mel Reynolds, convicted child sexual predator

“I have faith that the folks of Chicago will vote for me. Because I’m black. Like they are.”

This should come as absolutely zero surprise to anybody, but one of the candidates [1] who has tossed their name into the hat to replace the disgraced and corrupt former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. served prison time For sexual assault on a minor and fraud:

Disgraced former U.S. Rep. Mel Reynolds said he will ask voters to focus on his congressional experience rather than his state and federal criminal record as he announced his bid today for the seat held by Jesse Jackson Jr., who has resigned.

And, sadly, he has a good shot of being elected by the fine folks of Chicago because, first and foremost, he’s black. And, he’ll promise to legislate as much free stuff for the folks in his district as he possible can.

It also doesn’t hurt that the folks in this district have already proven that they don’t give a damn how corrupt or crooked their reps are. As long as they’re black and vote for entitlements.

Do you really doubt this? They just re-elected JJJ in the midst of a Federal corruption and fraud investigation. They just re-elected JJJ, despite the fact that he’s been AWOL from his job for months while 1) hiding out during the investigation so as not to have to answer any questions about it, 2) seeking treatment for a number of mental issues, and 3) seeking treatment for his drug addiction.

The dude didn’t even campaign. Not a single hand shake. Not a single door knocked on. No campaign commercials. And he still won with 90% of the vote in his district.

Because he’s black and votes for entitlements. And, sadly, that’s all the folks in this Chicago district care about.

But I’m the racists for pointing this out, right?

Weasel Zippers [2] calls this a “perfect fit” for the district. And he’s right.

Hell, Reynolds could have denied extra security for a US Ambassador in a foreign and hostile country, watched a live video feed from the comfort of his living room while Americas begged for help while valiantly fighting off a well coordinated terror attack on our consulate, went to bed early knowing they’d all be slaughtered before you woke up, and then lie through your teeth to the American public about it — and they still would have voted for him.

Fact.

Sometimes I wish I’d been born a morally bankrupt black person. Is there a faster and surer path to the privilege and power of Congress than that? (The answer is no, there isn’t).
