|Explaining the Second Amendment to Liberals||Fact: Piers Morgan is a Wuss Who Doesn’t Know Squat About the Second Amendment|
Big sports story over the weekend, in case you don’t watch sports, was that Kansas City Chiefs insider lineback Jovan Belchershot to death his 22-year old girlfriend (in front of his mother) on Saturday. He then went to Arrowhead Stadium, where he thanked general manager Scott Pioli and coach Romeo Crennel for all they’d done for him.
And then shot himself in the head, completing his murder/suicide mission.
Of course, it was a hot topic on the Sunday morning football shows. But I was a little creeped out by the tone of the coverage. Especially when they showed Belcher’s locker, with his gear and uniform still in the locker looking like a shrine to a beloved and tragically lost teammate.
Sorry…but Belcher murdered his girlfriend, and orphaned their 3-month old baby. He’s the lowest filth on the planet, and deserving of nothing but our greatest loathing. Cry a tear for Belcher? No fucking way.
Ed Morrissey at Hot Air picked up on it, too:
Why bizarre? Well, if you watched NBC’s Football Night in America last night, you’d already know that the broadcast team could barely even mention the fact that Belcher committed murder. Before and during the game, they used phrases like “lost her life in this tragedy” to describe what happened to his victim and other non-judgmental phrases. Into that context comes Costas to blame … the gun. It was surreal, an experience only interrupted in the post-game show when Rodney Harrison appeared to get a little angry and remind everyone that Belcher killed someone else besides himself.
And then, just when I thought I couldn’t take another bit of the NFL’s coverage of this tragedy, Bob Costas decided to go all anti-second amendment Liberal journalist on us, claiming that Kasandra Perkins would still be alive if we had “gun control.”
Because there is simply no other way a giant NFL linebacker would be able to kill his 5’3″, 115 lb girlfriend without a gun. No possible way for this huge, powerful, and violent athlete to have physically harmed her with an evil gun to do his murderous bidding for him.
As my friend David Guenthner, the Senior Director for Public Affairs at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, mocked on Facebook, “If football players didn’t have guns, their lovers would still be alive. Just ask Nicole Brown.”
#WhatBobCostasBelieves if guns were banned Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman would still be alive

Yes, Bob Costas, guns are the problem. Nicole Brown Simpson would be alive today if OJ hadn’t shot her with that knife.

David also made this spot-on observation: “Is there anyone employed by NBC who won’t exploit a tragedy to push a leftist political agenda?”
No, David, apparently there isn’t, because:
Wait, NBC employs doctrinaire liberals? Please tell me more about this shocking development.

I wasn’t watching the game when this happened because 1) I hate the Cowboys and Eagles, 2) I watch a whole lot less NFL football these days anyway, 3), I have a 7 month old baby boy, and I was going to bed early after a fun-filled day of playing with my boy.
But while I was in bed reading my Twitter, my feed was suddenly filled with nothing but Bob Costas hashtags. A sampling:
So, apparently Bob Costas said something idiotic?

Wow.Bob Costas just used halftime at a Cowboys game to promote the elimination of handguns.
— Sara for America (@saraforamerica) December 3, 2012
…and Bob Costas goes full gun control on NBC. Fantastic.
— John Ekdahl, Jr. (@JohnEkdahl) December 3, 2012
Instead of blaming the killer, #BobCostas (also a tool) blames the tool.

Here we go, Bob Costas lecturing us about how guns should be outlawed. SMH. The gun loaded itself and shot all by itself. #StickToFootball.

Guns are 100% banned in Chicago, murder Capitol of the United States.

Bob Costas attempts to wrangle the title of World’s Greatest Gun Salesman Away from His Idol, Barry Obama:
I think @bobcostas might have just sold a half-million handguns.
— Donald Miller (@donaldmiller) December 3, 2012
Anyone still arguing gun control at this point is a flat-earther and immune to logic and reason.
— Frank J. Fleming (@IMAO_) December 3, 2012
What’s funny about all this?America would be much better off with lots more handguns & lots less #BobCostas.
