I’ve been home all day today with a sick 7 month old baby (who is doing better, just a fever and congestion), and of course have been sickened by the horrible evil that took place at Sandy Hooks Elementary School today in Connecticut.

As I hold my son, and imagine anybody ever doing him harm, I am physically sick at the thought of what these poor parents and families are going through.

There will be much more news and details emerge in the hours, days, and weeks to come. But the Left is already gearing up the calls for more gun control. Even Obama during his emotional press statements, alluded to “we’ve had enough of these gun crimes, we’re going to do something about it.” I have zero doubt that “gun control” is exactly what he is talking about.

We all know that gun control is not only not the right answer, but that it is exactly the WRONG answer to evil crimes like these. All you have to do is look across the planet, where another evil monster in China stabbed to death a reported 22 children at their school. Guns are illegal in China. Which is not enough to stop a madman intent on killing innocents.

You know what is enough? A legally armed good guy.

But for now I’ll leave it with the words of Mark Levin, who wrote on Facebook a few moments ago: “This is hard to stomach. If you pray, pray hard for the deceased & their families. If you don’t pray, now would be a good time to start.”

_______-

Reports are that the killer has been identified as 24 20-year old Adam Ryan Lanza, and that his mother was a school teacher at the school, and that she was one of the murdered victims.

UPDATE:

These two tweets appeared back-to-back in one of my lists:

While Obama and Liberals will try to convince you that fewer guns is the answer, the opposite is actually the truth.

6 adults were mowed down by Adam Lanza today, along with those 20 children. Imagine if one, two, or all of those teachers/faculty would have had guns? How many children would they have saved? How many fewer of them would have been killed?

  1. How can you possibly use the Chinese madman as an example? Without a gun, he was able to severely wound 22 kids, but thus far, none of them have died. The contrast between what happened there and what happened in Connecticut is pretty plain. Crazy people will do do crazy things, but if we limit their access to guns, we can at least limit the death and destruction.

You say more guns are the answer. To prevent this tragedy, who exactly are the good guys we are supposed to arm with guns at the elementary school? The teachers? The hall monitors? The 3rd graders?

    • How can you possibly use the Chinese madman as an example?

      Easily. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_attacks_in_China_(2010%E2%80%932011)

I can’t find it at the moment but there is another page that lists all the school knife attacks in China for the past two decades. You can just do a google news search and find how many there are and yes, there is a high number of fatalities.

      • Yes, but the average number of deaths per knife attack was a lot lower. With a gun, a crazy person can mow down 22 easily. I’m not saying ban guns, I’m saying make it harder for crazy people to get them. And stop cutting funding for mental health services!!

    • Okay I’ll give you another one Jeffery.
Biggest mass murder in recent history. 800,000Tutsi men women and children were systematically raped, tortured and slaughtered over a period of 100 days. The weapons used weren’t guns…they were MACHETES! Gonna regulate knives now? England..outlawed guns. Supporters say the crime rate dropped…the cops will tell you most crimes don’t get reported anymore because the cops are useless. Hell you can’t even evict squatters from your property in England. Or the guy in london that killed two cops by grenade. Gun control doesn’t stop the killin. It just disarms and makes victims of everyone but the criminals and the insane. Kennesaw Georgia in 1982, the city council passed a law making it mandatory for all heads of household to own, carry, if it was a pistol, and know how to use and care for…a gun. It was a town of 5000 then. It’s now a town of over 30,000. Their crime rate plummeted 80% over night. It’s STILL less than half of what it was. They went without a murder for over 25 years. They had 3 or 4 in the last couple. Care to guess where they happened? In the what is basically the only “gun free zone” in town…school. Or as sick souls like todays shooter, and criminals everywhere call em..target rich environments.

Mass murders like the one today comprise about 1% of the total number of murders comprise in America every year. The number of homicide victims every year comprise LESS than 1% of the total population [actually the actual number varies from year to year between 5 THOUSANDTHS to 9 THOUSANDTHS of a percent. If you look at the murder rate of the last 40-50years or so it's generally between 7-9 THOUSANDTHS.] of the United States. So for that I should allow my rights to be restricted? Don’t think so.

    • What avenues would you employ to prevent a “crazy” person from getting firearms? Who would designate the parameters for declaring someone “crazy”? How would the “crazy” people be identified so all the people around them would know that they are not supposed to have firearms? Should “crazy” people be allowed to drive motor vehicles or own chainsaws? Both of these devices are proven to be deadly.
How many states now have concealed carry laws and what has happened to the crime rate in those states.
I understand that in Israel there are armed teachers and designated security personnel in the schools and on transportation. That would certainly be a deterrent to incidents like this, it is doubtful that even a “crazy” person would go to a shooting gallery if they knew that there was a great probability that the targets would be shooting back.
Putting a sign up and stating that a gun free or drug free zone is in place does not make it so. Laws only work if the people are willing to obey them. By definition a criminal does not obey laws, and a “crazy” person will most likely ignore them too, so what are you going to do?

Heinlein said it best; “an armed society is a polite society”

  2. Another good reason to home school.

  3. Such a tradegy, children are suppose to be safe in schools. I am interested Robbie what you mean about the gun control situation because I know you have very strong opinions about guns etc being a military man. I don’t understand guns myself as I have not grown up around them, most Kiwis haven’t even our cops don’t carry them, they’re in the boot of the police cars. I will be honest it seems to me that less guns less tradegy but I’m sure there is a ‘grey’ are here.

    • Catherine..I’ll give you my own answer to your question while you await Robbie’s response. Which might take a short bit since Cash is feeling a little ‘blech’.

America is a country of over 300 million people. A little over 312 million according to current Census Bureau estimates.
Now there were a shade over 311 million people in 2011. How many of them were murdered? 14,612.
      By comparison…in the same year..
      There 83,425 rapes.

Now for giggles the country of Venezuela…just outlawed gun ownership last year and closed the very last gun store earlier this year. In the 1st 6 months of this year they had over 9500 murders. In other words between January 1st and June 31st. THAT is in a country of a little over 25,000,000 people. By comparison the State of Texas with about the same population only had 1250 murders in 2011.

England…which people who favor restrictive gun laws or outright outlawing of private ownership, hold up as a beacon.
A couple of guys on motorcycles robbed a jewelry store not with guns..but with chainsaws and hammers. What did the mall full of shoppers do? They ran like rabbits. What did the jewelry store’s fellow shop owners do? they pulled down and locked their gates and cowered in abject terror. Earlier this year a nice lad blew up a pair of police officers with a grenade. I read a crime stats report from the British version of the Justice Department, which prefaces the report by stating the crime stats are off because most crimes don’t even get reported, because the citizens see the police and criminal justice system as about as useful as tits on a boar. So consequently the citizens don’t bother to call in for whatever crime has been committed. Plus they are as likely to end up in jail for defending themselves as the criminals they try and assault either in defense of property or life. True story I found in the last month or two. Don’t remember when it happened, I never saved the link…ooops, a homeowner in england with a shotgun was imprisoned…for defending his home and property.

      • Thanks Sean, very scary stats!!! It is such a hard debate though aye one that may never be resolved. Guns scare the crap out of me but I have never been around them so I don’t know the first thing about them and that makes me alittle nieve too. My mum however in her “heyday” was a crack shot with a pistol and rifle (if you knew my mum who is now in her late 70′s, you would be shocked haha). She hates guns because she understands them. In NZ we do not have guns generally in the house, however we had neigbours who use to have guns in their ceiling, they did have a licence and they also had a few other weapons too that they collected. I don’t know how I would feel about having a gun in the house if I lived in America, it is a very different culture to what I know. It s just so sad that those poor babies were targeted in such a nasty malicious way in a place that should promote safety. I’m a teacher so it scares the hell out of me.

        • I will never understand how anyone can be afraid of the mere presence of a gun. Besides being a very useful tool, they are a lot of fun.
I got my first shotgun when I was 7, my first semi-auto .22 when I was 10. I own quite a few and in my lifetime have fired well over one million rounds, and to this day have never harmed anyone out of carelessness or malice.
It’s the evil bastards that are the problem, not the fire arm.

  4. Sad. Maybe someday science will enable us to find out these crazy individuals before they can harm whether by gun, knife, club, poison or whatever.

  5. Guns aren’t the problem, it’s the sick twisted bastards that use them to commit crimes. It isn’t just a problem in the U.S.

Time Line of Worldwide School and Mass Shootings. The worst shooting of school children took place in Norway.

The worst murder of school children in the U.S. occurred in 1927 at Bath, Michigan, 39 children in an explosion.

Anyone who believes taking our freedom and liberty away through gun banning/confiscation is not only an idiot, but my enemy. If they are so sincere in their desire to take our weapons, let them be the one’s who come to our doors, not their foolish servants.

    • No2…the account I read said 38 kids…6 adults for a total of 44. Oh and almost 60 wounded. It was multiple explosions IIRC. He had more he never got to detonate and had planned to level the school.

  6. Kids just have to get protected independent of what is needed and obviouly schools have to get maximum Security incl armed guards and until none kids are ever killed again a satisfied Security level is not achieved, period

  7. Before Connecticut tragedy, administration eliminated emergency preparedness program, let school violence prevention programs lapse.

Government officials told the Washington Guardian on Friday night that two Justice Department programs that had provided more than $200 million to schools for training, security equipment and police resources over the last decade weren’t renewed in 2011 and 2012, and that a separate program that provided $800 million to put police officers inside the schools was ended a few years earlier.

Meanwhile, the administration eliminated funding in 2011-12 for a separate Education Department program that gave money to schools to prepare for mass tragedies, the officials said.

From the same source we now know that blood is truly on the hands of libturds.

Some liberal groups have increasingly voiced concerns about the increased spending on police and security at schools. For instance, the Justice Policy Institute, a think tank, wrote a report in 2011 entitled “Education Under Arrest” that concluded that “schools do not need school resource officers to be safe.”

  8. My mantra for the time being -

The extremists on both sides of the gun control debate can STFU right now. Nobody cares about you.

I will repeat it til the thick skulls understand this is not about them.

    • Well, they won’t. Find another mantra or write the long overdue history book about the ‘Greatest Moderates In American History.’

“I WOULD REMIND YOU THAT EXTREMISM IN THE DEFENSE OF LIBERTY IS NO VICE! AND LET ME REMIND YOU ALSO THAT MODERATION IN THE PURSUIT OF JUSTICE IS NO VIRTUE!”
      ~ BARRY GOLDWATER

      • I am no moderate, my friend. I am not sure how your logic took your there. I will simply continue to tell those extremists from both sides attempting to turn this into a political discussion to STFU. No harm in that.

        • Okay then, but it appears to me only one side is trying to use this for political gain, while the other is fighting back to preserve our liberty.

        • Bob? I’ve been in arguments with dumbshits that don’t even LIVE in this country that are arguing everyone should be disarmed and guns should be outlawed. I get into those arguments every couple weeks. I don’t start them ..I sure as shit jump in with both feet though and stomp the otherside into paste. MOUTHY, PUGNACIOUS paste…but still paste. Only one side is making this political. Within 3 HOURS of the shooting liberal politicians, actors, pundits.. were already filling the airwaves and the internet, screaming about “Gun Control”, “ban all guns” “repeal the 2nd amendment” “shoot the NRA” “kill all gun owners” etc etc ad nauseum…it was all over twitter, the various anti gun sites on FB and the net…comments on news sites, Blogs…

        • He’s a troll. Look at the Perry thread. He’s here to poop in the comments.

  9. So I just read Dianne Feinstein is proposing legislation that will make my handgun illegal. Good luck with that Dianne. This Dianne owns my gun, purchased legally, and I intend to keep it.

  10. I would like to make something special
For each ones of the children’s family who passed away in this crazy situation. If anyone knows how to get the names of all the kids I would appreciate it and I will have them sent to the school so they can give them to the families.

  11. DOJ: Murders of School-Age Children Down 42%; Only 1% Take Place at School

In the 2008-2009 school year, only 1 percent of the school-age children murdered were murdered at school.

In the 2009-2010 school year, the latest year for which the Justice Department has published data, 17 school-age children were murdered at school. That also was a 50 percent drop from the 34 children murdered at school in the 1992-93 school year.

In 2009 there were a reported 785,000 government sanctioned abortions. Let’s have that conversation.

  12. Is that what you use on your crotch? Because it is not working. You continue to stink up the place and every other website you infect. Left or right – nobody likes you. You’re an Adam Lanza wannabee.
