KVUE News posted this story last month, which I guess was supposed to make me feel sorry for this illegal immigrant mother (who also happens to be a convicted thief) who is now being deported back to Mexico — with or without her anchor babies.
Sorry, KVUE, but my give-a-damned is all dried up.
A North Texas mother who completed her probation for stealing merchandise from a Macy’s in 2010 has been ordered to leave the country. Her children are sick and she is now trying to appeal to ICE with medical records so she can stay with her children. ICE said a child’s health is something agents consider when determining whether someone should be deported.
In 8 years she has had 3 anchor babies, but not bothered to learn English. She was a criminal when she sneaked into this country and continues to be a criminal as proven by the theft. The kids can stay here with family, but she can go home.
Her kids and her sad story are not my problem (well, except for the part where I’m helping foot the bill for their medical expenses).
Send her back to Mexico.
Her choice to take the kids or not. And I hope she tells her tale of woe far and wide (in Mexico), as a warning to any and all other Mexican parents that they too might be forced to abandon their children because of their choices. I hope it scares them into either 1) entering the US legally, or 2) staying put in Mexico and working to improve their country, rather then coming here to drag down ours.

The general leaning of this country is pro-immigrant and legal status or not seems not to make a difference in this regard. The problem is that ICE lets many slide and only responds when an illegal commits a crime (but not always either). Hack, for ICE, you can even overstay your visa when a family member sponsors you and all you do is pay a penalty at the end. Look at our public schools also – that do not require legal status to educate children. Schools are not even mandated to report illegal applicants. In most states, matricula consular is as good as a legal ID. And now, Illinois and soon other states will provide DLs to illegals. All this to appease the Hispanic voter Robbie.
Hispanics do not need to learn English either. Spanish is our second language! Unfortunately even in Texas, everywhere you go there are forms in Spanish and interpreters on hand in government offices. Public schools provide “transitional bilingual services” too. As long as this nation continues these practices, Hispanics will not have an incentive to master the language of the land and will just be entitled to receive bilingual services regardless of need.
While many other countries may be over running with poor and illiterate people there isn’t a one of them that is so ignorant as to provide for their own demise as America.
On the contrary – America as a matter of national policy (both parties) has always spoon-fed Hispancis to succed in terms of language acquisition, education and even in terms of affirmative action (read: government contracts for minority-owned businesses and hiring of Hispanics). Does America cuddle any other immigrant group as much? Ss I argue above: even the illegal Hispanic is given every opportunity here with ICE mostly looking the other way (read: free ESL, bilingual services everywhere because it is “our” second language, “transitional bilingual programs” and free puiblic education w/o accountability to legal status, DL for illegals and acceptance of matricula consular as legal ID). The only one that is ignorant to these facts is you RD.

America wants Hispanics to succeed and they are slapping us silly. Perhaps in this regard I will concur with your statement’s accuracy, wise one.
