Rick Perry shooting an AR-15

Our Governor knows a thing or two about the second amendment

Shortly after King Obama’s political theater stunt yesterday, a true leader — Texas Governor Rick Perry — released this statement (printed in its entirety):

“The Vice President’s committee was appointed in response to the tragedy at Newtown, but very few of his recommendations have anything to do with what happened there.

“Guns require a finger to pull the trigger. The sad young man who did that in Newtown was clearly haunted by demons and no gun law could have saved the children in Sandy Hook Elementary from his terror.

“There is evil prowling in the world – it shows up in our movies, video games and online fascinations, and finds its way into vulnerable hearts and minds. As a free people, let us choose what kind of people we will be. Laws, the only redoubt of secularism, will not suffice. Let us all return to our places of worship and pray for help. Above all, let us pray for our children.

“In fact, the piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media, to use the massacre of little children to advance a pre-existing political agenda that would not have saved those children, disgusts me, personally. The second amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president.”

Gov. Perry would have made a damned-fine President. He still might someday. For the time being, we’re damned lucky to have him as our Governor.

  1. I lost all respect for Perry over the whole HPV vaccine issue. Also being a conservative atheist is tough these days as the silly invocations of god increase in volume. Great suggestions, Rick. Let’s pray on it.

    • To clarify, obviously King Obama’s ideas won’t accomplish anything to prevent another Newtown but neither will praying on it. Seems like blatant pandering to me

      • I am not a Texan Anon, but from where I sit I have had the opportunity to notice that Gov Perry’s leadership in that state extends beyond prayer.

        They passed the Estes resolution:

“….in coordination with Governor Perry, to express in no uncertain terms our State’s opposition to proposed federal legislation that would do irreparable harm to our Second Amendment rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution,” added Estes.

The resolution reasserts our “right to keep and bear arms to protect oneself, one’s family, and one’s possessions from either the lawlessness of other persons or the tyranny of the government.”

Senate Concurrent Resolution 54 specifically opposes the Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record Sale Act of 2009 filed in the United States Congress, which would require all firearm owners to apply for and carry a federally issued license in order to keep any firearm in their homes.

So, what is your point again?

    • Anon, so why troll here? Everyone here is a supporter of Governor Perry’s.

Now, if you don’t like Texas, and its leadership, there is always Michigan or Illinois. I understand they would be happy to have another dimwit to feed their tax coffers. Seems you are a prime candidate for them.

As to the HPV vaccinations, you show you are quiten stupid. The standard measels vaccine carries a greater risk of side affects.

When people like you chime in, we know that DailyKos/Huffington Post is missing an idiot.

  2. *poof*

  3. Found a very interesting link.

It is a list of most of the mass killings/violent attacks from around the world, along with the legal drugs the attackers were using, withdrawing from and even overdosing on,at the time of their crimes.

Also, Widow Chantel Blunk sues psychiatrist who treated Aurora shooter James Holmes. I think she has a strong case against the psychiatrist.

    • I just got around to reading this synopsis. Unfortunately, it appears that Holmes did not make specific threats (naming people, places and things) and thus this quack psychiatrist may be immune from prosecution. Let’s hope I am wrong…

  4. Sigh…fucking journal news! 2 houses have been broken into in the last week or so since they put up that interactive map. The one that just go hit…the criminals walked away with a gun safe full of gun and the permits. *grrrr*
