Stopped at Red’s Indoor Range (south) on my way home from work this afternoon. And even at 4:00, there was already an hour-long wait for a lane.

So I waited. And watched as at least 15 customers lined up behind me. Many of them obviously new shooters (you can tell by some of the questions they were asking the range operator about rules, ammunition, recommendations, shooting stances, etc.).

Also of note was that the range was limiting the purchase of ammo to only one 50 round box of ammo per customer. The guy behind the counter said that they were rationing ammo, because if they didn’t, they would have already run out and wouldn’t have ANY left to sell to range users.

I had both my Springfield XD .45 ACP and my Kahr .40 S&W with me and put 50 rounds down range in each caliber. Great way to unwind after a day at the office.

Took this image of my .45 and two of my magazines.

10-round .45 ACP magazine (left) and 13-round .45 ACP magazine

10-round .45 ACP magazine (left) and 13-round .45 ACP magazine

The one on the left is a 10-round magazine, which is the maximum capacity magazine Obama wants to mandate nationwide. This same magazine is now illegal in New York. Even if you’re a member of NYPD. I can empty this magazine, on target, in less than 3 second. And it only takes me about 2-3 seconds to drop the empty magazine, jam in a new loaded magazine, and chamber a round.

The magazine on the right holds 13 rounds of .45 ACP. Possession of this magazine, if Obama has his way, would make me a felon. It’s also illegal in New York. And California.

Is there really anybody out there who believes that I am any less dangerous and capable of inflicting great damage with the magazine on the left? Really?

  1. Are you saying that possession of a “large capacity” clip would not be allowed if you already own it prior to legislation passing? That’s not what I understood.

  2. I always thought that the 30 round “clip” was a myth, but I was wrong. Here is one for the Soviet Stubby 7.62×39.
