NRA Official Statement From Today’s White House Task Force Meeting
Below is the full statement from the NRA-ILA.
It should come as no surprise that the libturd gun grabbers, fresh from their Sandy Hook ‘Blood Dance,’ are only interested in their agenda trumping the issue.
Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again. We attended today’s White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.
We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment. While claiming that no policy proposals would be “prejudged,” this Task Force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners – honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans. It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation’s most pressing problems. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works – and what does not.

Don’t think you can reason with mad men that are hungry for power. Anybody out there ever read “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” by William Shirer? Its only about 1400 extremely well document pages that, if you read it, will give you a creepy feeling that we are about to do a bunch of it again.
Chicago police chief: WE’LL SHOOT LICENSED CIvILIANS WITH GUNS
I can tell you that from the law enfocement perspective McCarthy may be right
If a cop is confronted (operative term here) by anyone with a gun in their hand we cannot expect to ask “is this gun licensed” before s/he responds to the situation at hand. Especially in highly dangerous circumstances. Is McCarthy referring to possibilities that legal gun owners would turn their concealed weapons on the cops? I don’t know.
I think that the only thing the Chief was conveying is his concern that there may be unintended casualties depending on the circumstances that an officer may be facing. But than, I may be totally wrong.
I just read that response on the cop blog. I don’t particularly agree the way McCarthy is denigrated. He is a thousand percent better than that cretin ex-FBI Weis was (remember his secret meetings with gang leaders). A cop is a cop and as such, will respond with fire that may result in unintended consequences.
It’s akin to a soldier in Afganistan not knowing who the good guys were and unfortunately children were in that category as well.
I am pro 2nd amendment and pro-concealed weapons.
Having been a cop I agree you can’t tell the good guy from the bad at first sight. If an officer encounters an armed individual he should be prepared to respond with lethal force.
But look at the idiocy of his statement. He is not differentiating between an armed criminal and an armed honest citizen, nor is he giving the armed citizen any credibility. Coming from a man who used to shoot out street lights when he was a street cop, no wonder he has such little regard for the responsibility or restraint an armed citizen would display. Because he has only served in cities that have severe restrictions on private gun ownership and CHLs, he has no clue how a person is trained to respond when they do have one and encounter the police.
To me, this is an ignorant statement at best; a dire warning to any who dared arm themselves legally at worse.
A Texas tale:
“Having been a cop I agree you can’t tell the good guy from the bad at first sight. If an officer encounters an armed individual he should be prepared to respond with lethal force.”
That is exactly the only point I wanted to make.
Regarding McCarthy – I agree there is a lot of ignorance there but than you have to note that McCarthy very well knows who he works for!!! I think it’s not the gun restrictions per se but the leadership at city hall. Was his statement rehearsed across the table from Rahm and was McCarthy’s arm twisted? I would bet my paycheck to the affirmative on both. City hall hyperbole
Your Texas tale speaks to the fact that it will ultimately, however, be up to the individual beat cops how to respond to street situations. I predict that given the new concealed-carry they will have no choice but to honor it as a matter of CPD policy as dictated by this new legislation.
Okay, and my main point is that the Chief is a total ass clown that has disdain for the honest citizen, since he clearly isn’t one himself.
I think that the main point here is that the 2nd amendment and conceal-carry will be the law in Illinois and whatever it is that the top brass is doing to prevent that will not prevail.
I hope you are right, but knowing how the Chief views it is a warning.
Big talk from the NRA. Hopefully they have the ‘juice’ to back it up? I hope they do, but the NRA’s 4 million members versus a total population of 300+ million (many of which are ‘low information’ morons) is not encouraging.
.
Though I’ve been a life-long gun owner and enthusiast, I just joined the NRA for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I figured, since I’m done donating money to politicians and the GOP party, I might as well donate it to a group that does have my best interest in mind.
While the NRA is the largest recognized organization that supports our 2nd amendment rights, they aren’t the only organization.
It should be noted that the NRA is the oldest civil rights organization in this nation and provides the certification for every law enforcement agencies range instructors.
While many people don’t belong to the NRA, they support their endeavors and I have been surprised on several occasions meeting NRA members that don’t own guns.
Another great piece by Sultan Knish.
Crime and Disarmament
Now there has never been a time when a new prince disarmed his subjects; on the contrary, when he has found them unarmed he has always armed them, because when armed those arms become yours; those whom you suspect become faithful, and tho who are faithful remain so , and they become your partisans rather than your subjects.
And since all of your subjects cannot be armed, when those you arm are favored you can deal more securely with the others; and that distinction in treatment which they recognize toward themselves makes them obliged to you; the others excuse you, judging it necessary that those who are in more danger and who hold more responsibility should have more reward.
But when you disarm them you begin to offend them; you demonstrate that you have no trust in them, either out of cowardice or from little confidence in them; and both these attitudes generate hatred against you.
And since you cannot be unarmed, you will have to turn to mercenary soldiers, who have the characteristics explained above; and even if they were good, they could not be strong enough to defend you from powerful enemies and from unfaithful subjects.
Therefore, as I have said, a new prince in a new principality has always instituted an army; and history is full of such examples.
Niccolo Machiavelli 1532
Maybe Obozo has read a little history, just who is whom in this rendition of the political dance he outlined.
I can guess who is the prince (or queen?) now just where do we plug in congress, unions, acorn, neo black panthers, UN blue beanies, assorted federal agencies and of course the subjects….oops I mean citizens.
All of this hysteria will end in a battle in the SCOTUS.
SCOTUS will rule in favor of the Second Amendment, but will also rule in favor of limiting the type of weapons citizens are allowed/supposed to own.
You can take that to the bank.
This just in :
“Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Monday he was requesting all of his city’s pension funds to divest their investments in gun manufacturers”
City Comptroller Amer Ahmad said the city pension funds do have investments in various investment pools that hold stock in companies that manufacture or sell assault weapons but also added that “every dollar matters.”
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-rahm-emanuel-chicago-pension-funds-gun-manufacturer,0,1373891.story
As I said above, Rahm is the driving force here. The only said things this will not affect the funds adversely. What a ……..
I meant that Rahm seems to think this will not affect the funds adversely, even as his comptroller stated that every dollar matters.
Couple of minutes ago the new NRA radio ad ran on my local station: “PROTECTION FOR THEIR KIDS BUT GUN-FREE ZONES FOR THEIRS!” Analysts on NPR are crying crocodile tears that NRA had the audacity to bring Obama’s kids into this. The Pres apparently is also falling apart. I say, nonsense!!! NRA is correct in pointing out the disparity between the pols’ children and every other kid. Anyway – did Obama not use children as “examples” in his circus today?
Error: GUN-FREE ZONES FOR OURS!
That radio ad you heard is also a video, with more like it to come.
NRA Stand And Fight.
Powerful ad! I am looking forward to a TV station Illinois with the fortitude to air it.
