As it so happens, I parked next to a Paul-bot at the H.E.B. on my way home from work that day and took these pictures. I think his car illustrates exactly what Kat was trying to say:

Look, I’m a lot more Libertarian than I am Republican. And I acknowledge that Dr. Paul has a lot of damned good ideas on how I’d prefer to see our government govern (that is, according to the Constitution), but Dr. Paul was not exactly the best messenger for the Libertarian message.
Because he comes across as a bit of a lunatic. A few tacos short of a combo plate.
I think one of the best things that could happen to the Libertarian party is for Dr. Paul to disappear from the national stage. I think if the Libertarian party can find another solid leader to be the face of the Party, and if most of Dr. Paul’s most rabid minions seek out another insane candidate to rally around, then it might provide a viable alternative for those of us who have abandoned the GOP.
