Molon Labe: Are American Citizens Preparing for War Against a Tyrannical Government?

A Democrat Senator who is herself a big fan of grabbing guns, recently called Obama’s  gun control agenda “extreme”.

Extreme.

As in “comprehensive” changes — which means he wants to fundamentally change the 2nd amendment, not make a few tweaks here and there.

How extreme? This extreme:

Bloomberg. The guy who said that confiscation was an option.

And this is by the admission of members of his own party.

“I think you need to put everything on the table, but what I hear from the administration — and if the Washington Post is to be believed — that’s way — way in extreme of what I think is necessary or even should be talked about. And it’s not going to pass,” said Heitkamp.

Well, since when did needing approval from both houses of Congress (or the limitations imposed on him by the Constitution) prevent Obama from getting his way? That’s what Executive Orders are for. Which is precisely what I expect Obama to try — an executive order that redefines what an “assault weapon” is, prohibits the manufacture or import of “high capacity” magazines, or imposes outrages regulations on the manufacture of firearms and ammunition.

The White House is weighing a far broader and more comprehensive approach to curbing the nation’s gun violence than simply reinstating an expired ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition, according to multiple people involved in the administration’s discussions.

A working group led by Vice President Biden is seriously considering measures backed by key law enforcement leaders that would require universal background checks for firearm buyers, track the movement and sale of weapons through a national database, strengthen mental health checks, and stiffen penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors, the sources said.

We’re heading for a showdown over the second amendment with the President, Democrats, and bed-wetting gun-grabbers, folks.  And it’s a showdown that, if Obama and Congress overstep their Constitutional authority, is going to end violently.

The people have responded to these threats by not merely buying up the firearms, magazines, and ammunition that might be affected by these proposed bans as they did in 1993/94 before the Clinton-era ban was pushed through, but by purchasing nearly every firearm of military utility of the past 100+ years. Ruger 10/22s and other common .22LR rifles have doubled in price when they can be found at all. Inexpensive Mosin-Nagants, originally designed in 1891 and typically found by the dozen in your average neighborhoodgun shops, are nowhere to be found, and their ammunition is gone as well. U.S. citizens are preparing for war against their government by the millions. Americans aren’t “going Galt” in response to the push by would-be elites to surging statism. We’re on the cusp of going Häyhä.

I don’t think you can put too much emphasis or underscore the importance of that bolded statement. More than 10 million firearms and more than a billion rounds of ammunition where purchased by private citizens. In December. These Americans aren’t getting ready for turkey season. They are getting ready for war, folks.

I will not accept a ban on any firearms, or magazines from a self-absorbed Congress or any other imagined superior.

I will not give up one more cartridge, one more inch, or one more right so that statists in either party can constrict our liberties yet again in the false claim of safety, a claim that only serves their desire for absolute power without consequence.
