On Christmas Day, 18-year-old Sarah McKinley of Blanchard, OK lost her husband to lung cancer, leaving her a widow and single mother to their 3-month old son.
On New Year’s eve day, alone at home and still greiving her husband’s death, two men — Justin Martin and Dustin Stewart — tried to break into her home armed with a large hunting knife.

Sarah McKinley re-enacts the moment before she shot and killed a man who had broken into her home

Martin knew that Sarah was home alone and that her husband had died, armed with a hunting knife you know that he had nothing but evil intentions in mind when he broke into her home.

She described to an Oklahoma news station what she did while the men were knocking aggessively on her front and back door: “I walked over and got the 12-gauge, went in the bedroom and got the pistol, put the bottle in his (son’s) mouth, and then I called 911.”

She barricaded the front door with a sofa and then locked herself and her baby in the bedroom.

When she called 911, she asked the dispatcher what she should do if they broke into her hom.

“I’ve got two guns in my hand – is it OK to shoot him if he comes in the door?” she said.

The dispatcher’s response was measured, “I can’t tell you that you can do that, but you do what you have to do to protect your baby,” the dispatcher told her.

Around 2:00 p.m., Martin kicked in the bedroom door and headed for McKinley armed with a hunting knife. Which is when Sarah McKinley shot him in the gut. Police found him slumped over a floral-print sofa, dead where he fell.

Dustin Stewart

Dustin Stewart -- almost as dumb as he looks

The accomplish, Dustin Stewart, being not nearly as dumb as he looks, ran.

If that was the end of the story, it would be a damned fine one. One of the most textbook cases of using a gun and deadly force to protect yourself, your home, and your family.

As Detective Dan Huff told KOCO-TV, “The law provides you the remedy, and sanctions the use of deadly force.”

But as I said, the story does not end there, and it only gets better.

After running for his life, Dustin Stewart eventually turned himself into police. And while Mrs. McKinley will not be charged with any crime, Stewart is being charged with murder.

That’s right…in Oklahoma (as in Texas) if, while engaged in a feloney, a person is killed, you are guilty of murder.

In her inteview with KOCO-TV, McKinley said, “It was either going to be him or my son. And it wasn’t going to be my son.”She added: “There’s nothing more dangerous than a woman with a child.”

Well, except a woman with a child. And a shotgun.

____________

Lost in this story is…why the hell did it take more than 21 minutes for police to respond? You’ve heard the old saying, “The police are only minutes away when you have seconds to spare.” What happens when the police are nearly a half hour away and you only have seconds or minutes to spare?

UPDATE (Jan 24) — New post added for this week’s execution of Rodriog Hernandez.

__________________

It’s a new year, which means a new Execution Schedule for the nation’s busiest execution chamber. So far there are 6 executions scheduled for 2012. The first is on January 26, when Rodrigo Hernandez will be executed for the 1994 kidnap, rape, and murder of 38-year old Susan Verstegen.

Three more executions are currently scheduled for February, with two more in March. Here’s the current schedule:

2012 Execution Schedule

Operation Gunwalker

All three of these people should be investigated, impeached, and imprisoned.

Not only was it one of the goals of Obama/Holder’s Fast and Furious scandal — it was the primary goal of the operation.

Sunshine State Sarah has some words for the Obama administration:

Memo to the Obama administration: if don’t want us to just default to the obvious conclusion – that the objective of Fast and Furious was to increase drug cartel violence in Mexico, blame American-made weapons, thereby justifying stricter gun control laws – then you better come up with a new excuse in a hurry, because there’s nothing else coming to mind.

If the folks at Time magazine were honest and ethical journalist (they are none of those three things), then Fast & Furious and Operation Gunwalker and Holder’s involvement would be the biggest news stories of 2011 instead of the OWS insanity.

When I first started writing about F&F, I told you that the entire reason that Eric Holder’s Justice Department, under orders from Obama, tried to create a gun scandal was so that they could push for tougher gun regulations in the US. And now there’s more than just my gut feeling:

Documents obtained by CBS News show that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) discussed using their covert operation “Fast and Furious” to argue for controversial new rules about gun sales.

In Fast and Furious, ATF secretly encouraged gun dealers to sell to suspected traffickers for Mexican drug cartels to go after the “big fish.” But ATF whistleblowers told CBS News and Congress it was a dangerous practice called “gunwalking,” and it put thousands of weapons on the street. Many were used in violent crimes in Mexico. Two were found at the murder scene of a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

ATF officials didn’t intend to publicly disclose their own role in letting Mexican cartels obtain the weapons, but emails show they discussed using the sales, including sales encouraged by ATF, to justify a new gun regulation called “Demand Letter 3″. That would require some U.S. gun shops to report the sale of multiple rifles or “long guns.” Demand Letter 3 was so named because it would be the third ATF program demanding gun dealers report tracing information.

Bryan Preston adds:

These emails seem to be the smoking gun (har har) proving that the intent of Fast and Furious was political — to weaken resistance to gun control, which we know that Obama told gun control advocates he was working on “under the radar.” And way outside the legislative process. The president, AG Holder and SecState Clinton were all making public statements blaming Mexico’s drug war violence on US gun laws while Fast and Furious was going on. It strains credulity to believe that there was no connection.

More from Sarah, who summarizes my feelings exactly:

This has reached the point of outrageous corruption where I don’t want resignations, I want handcuffs. By the end of this, I want to see people behind bars. It would be little comfort to the family of slain Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, but at least it would be justice.

Many of you remember the story posted here this past October, My Advice…Don’t Jump The Counter!

Now we have an update on the two women that actually did jump the counter.

Two women get a side of felony charges in caught-on-video McDonald’s beatdown.

The same Manhattan grand jury that cleared a McDonald’s burger-flipper of all charges in a dramatic, caught-on-video beating has voted felony charges against the two irate women who he beat, prosecutors announced this morning.

Sweethearts Denise Darbeau and Rachel Edwards had rushed behind the counter of the West Village fast food joint during a raucus pre-dawn argument with the staff.

That unwise move earned them a severe pummeling with a grill-cleaning tool by Big Mac wrangler and manslaughter parolee Rayon McIntosh — and now there’s a side of felony charges to go with that beating.

Read the whole thing, it gives details not known until now and the article is written in the highly entertaining style the NYPost is known for.

I must add how proud I am of the citizens that comprise the Manhattan Grand Jury for absolving the victim and seeking justice for the two assailants.

The Rev. Daniel Mallette

The Rev. Daniel Mallette

Another brutal and senselessly violent attack in Obama’s hometown. I’m going to go ahead and cut and paste the entire article from the CBS Chicago story, because it’ll bring me to the second most disgusting aspect of this story:

It was a scene of sheer terror early Tuesday morning, two men accosted an 80-year-old Roman Catholic priest as he lay sleeping in his South Side rectory and brutally beat him.

As CBS 2?s Derrick Blakley reports, police say shortly before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, the suspects broke into the rectory at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, at 9849 S. Throop St. in the Longwood Manor neighborhood, and found the Rev. Dan Mallette sleeping.

Blakley spoke briefly with father Mallette, who was badly bruised but in good spirits.

CBS 2’s Mike Parker reports on Tuesday night, Mallette said he looked like he had been hit by a train and was still in a lot of pain, and was not ready just yet to face a TV news camera.

The Rev. Michael Pfleger also spoke with the beloved priest.

“He said he woke up and two people were standing over the bed and the first thing he knows he got hit,” said Pfleger. “He doesn’t know whether it was a stick, a bat or a cane. He got hit very hard and then they wanted money.

And this is why responsible, law-abiding citizens should be armed everywhere they go at all times. Because you just never know where and when evil will appear:

A convenience store manager grabbed a gun from under the counter and shot a robber in the knee when the man scooped up the clerk’s infant daughter, deputies and family members said Wednesday.

The robber tried to get into the cash register Tuesday afternoon at Del’s 24-Hour Food Store in Naples but he couldn’t open it. He grabbed a stroller with Elizabeth Easterly’s 1-year-old in it and headed for the door, according to a sheriff’s report and family members. Easterly shot the man and he died at a hospital.

“She’s pretty much in shock, but she saved the baby,” said Easterly’s grandmother, Nancy Ackerman. “He was taking the baby outside, and she went over the top of the counter. I don’t know how she did that because it’s real high.”

Easterly, 22, and her husband run the store for her grandfather, Del Ackerman. She was alone briefly during a shift change with her daughters, ages 1 and 2, when the man came in at about 3 p.m.

Ackerman, 75, said his granddaughter told him the man acted erratically and demanded money. As he fled the store, he tried to grab the baby, but couldn’t get her loose from the stroller straps. When he began carrying it out, Easterly, as she had learned in a training course, shot the man once in his knee.

The robber, identified Wednesday as 32-year-old Daniel Ramont Hernandez, was tackled outside by a man coming to work at the store and held down until deputies arrived.

She shot him in the knee most likely because he was holding the baby/stoller in such a way that a double-tap to center mass wasn’t possible. Looks like her training paid off as she knew exactly what to do and was ready to do it.

All those videos on World Star Hip Hop, Youtube, and Live Leak of black women beating the shit out of each other, fast food restaurant employees, and transgendered customers?  Ever wonder where and how these grown women learned to be so violent and how to fight like seasoned street thugs?

Apparently it starts in middle-school in black-undertow cities like Detroit:

Beatings Inside Detroit Middle School Bathroom, So Called 30-Second Game: MyFoxDETROIT.com

One 13 year old girl getting the hell beat out of her by another girl while 15 other girls watch, giggle, egg it on, and video the fight. It’s this violent mob mentality that makes going to or hanging out anywhere where black people gather in mass — amusement parks, malls, sporting events, concerts (where black music is the attraction), city parks on MLK day, etc. — such a dangerous proposition.

I first heard about this libturd’s statement last week and gave it no further thought. It’s not like Oregon, at least its major population centers, is devoted to the rule of law.

Today I came across an excellent piece by Dennis Prager at Townhall, where he responds to each excuse.

First, a list of Governor John Kitzhaber’s excuses:

1)”I refuse to be part of this compromised and inequitable system any longer.”

2)”I do not believe that those executions (the two that the governor allowed) made us safer.”

3)”Certainly I don’t believe (the executions of murderers) made us more noble as a society.”

4)Oregon has an “unworkable system that fails to meet basic standards of justice.”

5)”… And I simply cannot participate in something I believe morally wrong.”

For those of us familiar with the anti-Death Penalty supporters who frequent this site, all these excuses are to be expected from them, not from a Governor who is the chief executive of a state and who has already signed off on two executions.

I encourage you to read Dennis Prager’s thorough and thoughtful Fisking of the moonbat Governor.

Want to significantly decrease the chance of being the victim of violent crime in America?

Perhaps the single best preventive measure you can take is to avoid any place where young black people congregate en mass. At the mall, at amusement parks, at sporting events, and fast food joints, and on public transportation.

71% of all black children live in a home without their fathers. Not only are their father’s absent from their lives, but in many cases there is zero parental guidance or involvement from their mothers either.

All across America, groups of black youths roam their cities terrorizing their communities with violence and intimidation. And they’re getting younger-and-younger. In Dallas, a pack of 12-14 year old black thugs we’re bullying a 19-year old kid who was on his way to a medical appointment for his severe diabetes.

They wanted the Ipod that Octavius Lanier had bought with money he earned from his job. When he wouldn’t give it to them, they pushed him in front of a train.

Lanier was on the DART train when witnesses reported a gang of teens between 12 and 14 years old tried to rob him of his iPod.

“They were going to bully him to take it from him,” Harper said.

When Lanier refused to give it up, the boys followed him off the train at the MLK Rail Station in South Dallas. They pushed him off the platform and his foot got wedged between the platform and the train. When the train started moving, he was dragged.

Lanier died from his injuries.

Animals. A dangerous pack of animals. That is all they are.

Black culture in America is horrifically and tragically regressing. And it’s a cultural problem. The mother of one of the thugs involved sought out and apologized on behalf of her son.

But it begs the question — where wre the parents of all these boys? Why were they out on a train with adults at night?

I hope they find all the thugs involved, and I hope they are punished as harshly as the law allows.

Denny's restaurant

Eating out is becoming more-and-more dangerous for your health all the time. And it's not just the HFCS-laden foods, either...

This is what happens when law abiding citizens refuse to be helpless victims to violent crime; when they instead decide to fight back to protect themselves (and those around them):

HOUSTON – Authorities are searching for suspects involved in a shootout inside a Denny’s restaurant in east Houston early Saturday.

Police said a customer was sitting inside the Denny’s in the 11900 block of East Freeway at Federal Road around 5:50 a.m. when two men with guns entered the restaurant wearing bandanas.

Authorities said the customer, who had a concealed handgun, took cover and began shooting at the suspects.

The suspects returned fire before fleeing the scene in a white minivan. The customer ran outside and fired at the suspects’ van, but they got away.

No one was injured.

Police said a white minivan with what appeared to be bullet holes was later recovered in the 1400 block of Griffin.

Well done, sir. There simply is no telling what the robber’s intentions might have been. There are numerous cases where, after robbing a store or restaurant, all the customers were also either robbed or shot. This customer decided not to wait around to find out if these thugs were planning on using the deadly weapons they were brandishing.

I only wish he would have been a better shot and left two dead thugs on the floor inside the Denny’s. Once they fled, he probably shouldn’t have followed them out to continue the battle, as the threat had already been eliminated.

An armed society is definitely a polite society. Every single time a thug commits a violent crime, he should expect to be confronted and challenged (and stopped) by a mob of well armed (legally) and trained citizens. If you thought you had a fifty-fifty chance of being shot dead if you pulled out a gun to rob someone or someplace, you might reconsider. But if the odds are in the thug’s favor, in cities such as Chicago where law-abiding-citizens are forbidden from protecting themselves, then the thugs will continue to terrorize their communities.

__________

UPDATE — heard on the radio this morning that the man was a CHL holder and that he was the only customer in the Denny’s when he saw the two armed and masked would-be-robbers enter the store. He ducked behind a booth and drew his handgun before engaging the thugs. Which means there really is no excuse for there not to be at least one dead thug. Gotta make that first shot count.

A mother, her two daughters, and her son decided to make “purse snatching” a family business, robbing local shoppers at Willowbrook Mall in Houston. Thankfully they were caught, and will not be occupying a jail cell on Thanksgiving:

Linda Hinchley, the latest victim, was attacked while placing items in her car at the Willowbrook Mall Tuesday night.

“I was approached by a black SUV that almost rolled over my foot,” said Hinchley. “They grabbed my purse and dragged me along the concrete when I fell to the ground.”

Hinchley, who suffered scrapes and bruises, said she never saw the thieves coming.

“It only took 10 to 20 seconds for this to happen,” she said.

Houston police, who happened to be patrolling through the parking lot looking for car thieves, spotted the suspect’s vehicle, missing a license plate and speeding away.

Police stopped the vehicle. According to investigators, police found a treasure trove of stolen purses inside.

Michelle Coleman and her oldest daughter, 19-year-old Ebonye Coleman were charged with robbery.  Coleman’s 17-year-old son Darrian Robinson was also charged with robbery. Coleman’s youngest daughter is a juvenile. Police said they found dozens of stolen credit cards stuffed in her underwear.

It’s been years since I’ve been to Willowbrook Mall. But the black undertow that has been destroying that area of Houston seems to be closer to completing its mission. (did you have any doubt that the family would be a certain unmentionable race when you read the headline?)

In related news, another mahogany mob hit another 7-11 convenience store — up to 50 black teens and young adults stormed the store and brazenly took whatever they wanted.

It seems there are only two solutions left: heavily armed convenience store clerks, or prohibiting black youths from entering convenience stores more than 2 at a time. Of course, a third option — black people could quit robbing stores and acting like animals in public. But apparently that’s too much to ask…

Lawrence Auster makes a spot on observation about the media’s reporting on blacks in America:

[But] The current reality, in which the blackness of blacks is relentlessly pushed into our faces when it advances blacks’ interests or blacks’ collective ego, but is covered up when it does not, is also extremely odd, and yet everyone takes it for granted. No one in mainstream America questions it.”

Another day, another bunch of Occubamians being arrested. I guess their just trying to live up the massive arrest record of all those Tea Party protests…

New York

As you’ve heard, the miscreants, deviants, criminals, and other assorted losers in the #OWS were forcefully — and legally — evicted from Zuccotti Park yesterday in order for sanitation crews to come in and power-wash the human filth and excrement and throw away the tons of garbage and debris.

The park is now re-opened to the public, but no more tents, sleeping bags, or “living” in the park, as many of these nothing-better-to-do, nowhere-else-to-go losers were doing.

So how are these anarchists and junior Marxists going to react? Well…predictably…with threats of violence:

On the 17th, we going to burn New York City to the f-cking ground.

Ain’t no more talking, They got guns we got bodies. They got bricks we got rocks. Let’s see what they got.

[Young man in the background] They got missiles, we got bombs.

I want them…I want them to make that decision so they can see…in a few days you going to see what a molotov cocktail can do to Macy’s.

Hopefully, the NYP, the FBI, and the Dept. of Homeland Defense are doing everything they can to find this man and arrest him for…at the very least…making terroristic threats and stop him before he decides to actually follow through with his threats.

Los Angeles

Occupy L.A.: 5 charged with crimes including lewd conduct, battery

Austin

A note to parents. Even you idiot Liberals hanging out on the steps of City Hall: Leave your children at home, especially your teenaged daughters.

More than anything, these Occupy encampments sure do seem to attract a lot of sexual deviants. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jerry Sandusky is hiding out while out on bail at the Occupy Happy Valley encampment.

A man is in custody on felony charges after a teenage girl told police she saw the man masturbating while looking at her in the amphitheater at City Hall Plaza, home to the Occupy Austin encampment, according to an arrest affidavit.

Jarod Smith, 20, is charged with indecency with a child, a third-degree felony, and is being held in the Travis County correctional complex on $15,000 bail, according to jail records.

The 16-year-old girl was sitting on the steps of the amphitheater, talking with her friend at about 6 a.m. Sunday when she saw a man, later identified as Smith, undressing to get into a sleeping bag, the affidavit said. She said she looked away, but was not alarmed to see him undressing, as it is common for people at the plaza to do so before getting into their sleeping bags, the affidavit said.

When she looked up again, she saw the man was looking at her and masturbating, with his body completely exposed to her, the affidavit said. Soon after, the teen told a security guard who flagged Austin Police, the affidavit said.
