On a day where I was sorely in need of some good news (one of my long-time colleagues, a much beloved mother, wife, sister, daughter, was taken off life support today after a short but agonizing bought with lung disease), this was pretty good.
Proving true the old adage that when you choose to represent yourself in a court of law, you have a fool for a client:
A military jury on Wednesday sentenced Maj. Nidal Hasan to death for the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood, handing the Army psychiatrist the ultimate punishment after a trial in which he seemed to be courting martyrdom by making almost no effort to defend himself.
The rare military death sentence came nearly four years after the attack that stunned even an Army hardened by more than a decade of constant war.
The jurors deliberated for a mere 2 hours before deciding unanimously to sentence Hasan to death. Of course, as I’ve been telling folks all day, if you can’t sentence Hassan to death for this, then why even have the death penalty on the books?
In a perfect world, they would have dragged his bearded ass outside immediately and placed a .45 ACP round through the back of his skull, and then fed his lifeless body to a of pack of wild pigs. If they need a volunteer (wow…how long do you think that line would be?), I could be to Ft. Hood in about an hour and a half from my house. I could leave right now…
Meanwhile, our Communist-in-Chief still insists that this was merely just another act of workplace violence, instead of the act of terror that we all know it was.
