Opie’s BBQ in Spicewood, TX

Posted by Robbie Cooper on October 28th, 2007 | Trackback

If you’re in the area, it’s not “bad” BBQ — I’d imagine that if you are fortunate enough to get some properly cooked meat as soon as it is pulled off the pits out back, it’s probably damned good.

Deer Rutting Season in Central Texas

She doesn’t have to remind me. It was exactly 2 years ago today that I hit one of those stupid ungulates while I was riding my motorcycle.

Just got home from a full day in San Antonio where I rode with the Patriot Guard Riders to honor the passing of Gen. David Lee “Tex” Hill.

When Patriots Stand up To Pinkos

And a lot of my fellow Veteran bikers feel the same way. The Gathering of Eagles are protesting outside of the Code Pink House in D.C. (in part to bring attention to their illegal use of the property)

Gen. Hill is supposedly the inspiration for John Wayne’s character in the 1942 movie Flying Tigers about the squadron.

Stuck Behind a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

I hope it wasn’t his car. I hope he isn’t supposed to be smoking in cars his dealership is trying to sell. I hope his boss reads this (how many black Ferrari 612 Scagliettis could there possibly be on Hwy 360 this morning). I hope his boss fires him.

Day Tripping Texas: Cooper’s Pit Bar-b-que in Llano

Posted by Robbie Cooper on September 16th, 2007 | Trackback

I’ve heard a lot of people say that Cooper’s Old Time Pit Bar-b-que is the best in the state. I think it would take more research and a few more visits (to judge their consistency) to say for sure — but after just one trip, I can tell you that it’s in deserves to be in the conversation, and it was definitely worth the 159-mile round trip ride.

In Search of the Greatest BBQ in Texas

But it ain’t Texas BBQ, where the cooking of meat is serious business bordering on religion. BBQ so good that people (like me) will drive half way across the state to find it.

Texas PGR — We Need Your Help

Posted by Robbie Cooper on September 14th, 2007 | Trackback

If you live in Texas near one of these towns and have never ridden with the PGR before, but would like to come out and show your support of a fallen soldier and his family/friends/community, then I would implore you to attend one of these missions.

Fallen Soldiers from Texas

I’m not sure how many of these escort missions I’ll be able to attend over the next week or so — but I’ll try to make as many as I can. In the meantime, keep these soldiers and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

Motorcycle Maintenance

I’ve read Robert M. Pirsig’s “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” twice, and I really do get a sense of Zen from working on my own bikes.

National Ride your Motorcycle to Work Day

I’m still a little miffed that their is a huge tax credit for people who purchase and drive hybird cars. My motorcycle gets at least as good of as mileage as the best of hybrids (I get 53 mpg on my bike consistently), and leaves a significantly smaller “carbon footprint” during the manufacturing process and the life of the vehicle. And yet, I don’t qualify for the same tax credit.

These thugs are nothing more than slimy cowards. And when confronted by real men and women, they will back down like the scared little posers and punks that they are. And those “real men and women” are comprised mostly of old war veterans who aren’t about to let the honor of their lost brothers go unchallenged.
