Memeorial Day

God speed, young Soldiers. God speed.
It was especially gut-wrenching to watch his mother and the mother of his infant child have to bury their husband, father, and son on the day before Mother’s Day.
Sen. Byrd should be embarrassed. He was probably too busy naming building after himself to properly honor a true West Virgina hero. Which also goes to show that when you need something done, call a Texan!
Spc. Matt Morris will buried today at the Central Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery in Killeen, TX. I wish I could attend the services to pay my respects — but I know that my fellow PGR riders will be there to ensure that the passing of this soldier does not go unnoticed.
This morning I rode 54 of my fellow Patriot Guard Riders to the memorial service for Cpt. Rowdy Inman in Killeen, Tx (home of Ft. Hood, were Cpt. Inman was stationed).
Not a day goes by that I’m not exceptionally proud to be a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. Some day, just a little more than others though — like when I read stories like this one from 13-year old Nathan Ayres:
A finer bunch of Americans you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere…
It was awesome to see the military and Veterans welcomed with such open arms on the campuses of these two small town schools. It’s the type of overt patriotism and respect of military that would make teachers in San Fransisco go insane — but here in small town Texas, they are still teaching kids how to truly honor and respect the military.
You know what’s more patriotic than teaching your kids to “dissent” and hate? Teaching them to honor and respect.
Just got home from a full day in San Antonio where I rode with the Patriot Guard Riders to honor the passing of Gen. David Lee “Tex” Hill.
And a lot of my fellow Veteran bikers feel the same way. The Gathering of Eagles are protesting outside of the Code Pink House in D.C. (in part to bring attention to their illegal use of the property)
Gen. Hill is supposedly the inspiration for John Wayne’s character in the 1942 movie Flying Tigers about the squadron.
Truly a life well lived.
If you live in Texas near one of these towns and have never ridden with the PGR before, but would like to come out and show your support of a fallen soldier and his family/friends/community, then I would implore you to attend one of these missions.
