I admit that the show was on at our house last night — but I was not watching it. I was writing while the television blared in the background. I swear the dogs like watching that crap.
The amphitheater is on a nice grassy hill, with rows of grass terraced between rows of limestone walls — perfect for sitting and enjoying the show.
Color me unimpressed. No way I’m paying the $170 three-day pass ticket price for that line up. No way am I fighting the crowds, the dust, and the heat for that lineup.
His version of Billie Jean last night was one of my favorite American Idol performances this season. I like his version better than Michale Jackson’s original, and a bit more than Chris Cornell’s version, which he copied.
Austin Sound Check has found a poster for this year’s 2008 Austin City Limits (ACL) music festival. I didn’t go last year, but this year’s lineup has a lot of artists I’d like to go see:
Allahpundit at HotAir has posted a Marine’s response (in song) to the Dixie Chicks. Click the image to listen to Marine Cpl. David Thibodeaux’s song, “I’m not Ready to End the Fight”:
It is so simply, beautifully, and powerfully peformed, I bet even Barack Obama would put his hand over his heart…
I’m not sure which I find more offensive. Nas and Kelis’s t-shirts with “Nigger” proudly (ignorantly?) emblazoned on them…or Kelis’ pants.
But DJ Screw would be proud that his legacy has lived on. And now another Houston rapper, Pimp C, who rapped about and glamorized using the drug “recreationally” is dead.
I’ve seen Willie Nelson and Robert Earle Keen several times each. I still haven’t seen Lyle Lovett. But last night, I finally got to see Austin and Texas legend Jerry Jeff Walker (65-years old) at the One World Theater here in Austin.
The kid kept going on and on about how he had never kissed a girl. Or never been with a girl. I couldn’t help but think, “Yeah, but how many boys have you kissed. And was your father one of them.”
Decent lineup. Of the listed artists, I’ll probably only go see Gretchen Wilson and Miranda Lambert, though if I might go catch Willie, too (though March 4 is the Texas presidential primary).
I guess I’m getting old (and not just older). Because of the Rolling Stone Top 50 Albums of 2007, I only purchased and/or listened to 3 of them.
