A travesty of justice. There’s really no other way of putting it. But the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has thrown out Charles Dean Hood’s death sentence for the 1989 murder of Tracie Lynn Wallace, 26, and Ron Williamson, 40.
Charles Dean Hood has already had 6 execution dates come and go. Let’s hope the next is Lucky No. 7. I have closed all other Hood comment threads so as to consolidate all new comments here.
I’m sorry, but Hood and his lawyers have already made a mockery of the criminal justice system, and it’s way too late to “protect the integrity” now.
I’m not sure what this means — does it mean that the death warrant didn’t actually expire, and that a new date doesn’t have to automatically be requested and that instead a new date automatically is set for 30 days from now?
I just showed Big Sis (Tracie Wallace’s sister) the news, and she thrust her fist in the air and said an emphatic “Yes!” Tomorrow afternoon we’ll make the 167-mile drive to Huntsville to see Hood finally pay for his crime.”
I have closed the comments threads on all the previous Charles Dean Hood threads, as several of them have over 400 comments (links to those threads are at the bottom of this post).
In the order, Hood’s defense asks for a motion to “stay [his] execution and suspend rules of appellate procedure to permit rehearing of direct appeal.”
Hood has had one scheduled execution date (June 30, 2005) come and go since his he murdered Roland Williamson, 40, and his 26 year-old girlfriend, Traci Lynn Wallace in Plano, TX in 1990.
Charles Dean Hood brutally murdered Roland Williamson, 40, and his 26 year-old girlfriend, Tracie Lynn Wallace in Plano, TX on November 1, 1989.
I first wrote about Texas Death Row inmate Charles Dean Hood back on June 8, 2005. I wrote about him again on June 27, 2005. And now, Charles has written me back.
To those of you still defending this man’s character, I gotta know: what do you consider to be a person of bad character? If a double-homicide, theft, forgery, and statutory rape isn’t enough, what is?
You’re on DEATH ROW, Charlie. What part of that sounds like a great time for anybody?
