I actually agree with Rangel — it is immoral. But not for the same reason that Charlie thinks it’s immoral. Rangel (D-NY) thinks it’s immoral for cutting anything and not raising more taxes. I think it’s immoral for not cutting trillions instead of a few billion.

If Congress can’t even find the cajones to stand up to blatant and proven corruption, regardless of party, and denounce it roundly and cast it from their chambers — then what good are they? How can we trust them to ever do the right thing in private, when they can’t even recognize the wrong thing in such a public manner? Why’d they even bother to censure the old crook?
So Dirty Charlie used campaign money to illegally fund his defense during his ethics charge. The irony of this would be funny if it wasn’t so stomach-turning. And yet the idiots in his district just re-elected him to another term — which begs the question: why do black voters not mind when their representatives are brazen crooks and cheats? Do they feel like they are “owed,” and thus stealing from “whitey” and “the man” is OK? Even when the person doing the stealing is “the man?”

Rangel has used his power and influence over the last 40 years to grow his own personal wealth (all the while, dodging the tax man at every turn to prevent from having to pay taxes on those ill-gotten gains). Hell yeah he should forgo his ridiculously large pension if he’s found guilty.
Boo0-freak’n-hoo. Charles Rangel should be in prison. God knows if you or I pulled the same scams that he did, we would have already been locked up and fined until we are broke. Instead, Fat Charlie will get a slap on the wrist and be talked into retiring “for the good of the Democrat party.”

To be fair to Rangel, tax laws can be very confusing…for the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee…the committee in charge of all tax related legislation.

Rep. Charlie Rangel — a tax cheat who was voted the most corrupt man in Congress (and, WOW, that’s saying something). Despite leading the committee that writes our tax code, he doesn’t pay his own taxes.
Rep. Charlie Rangel (DEMOCRAT-NY) — one of the most corrupt and incompetent race-hustling shysters posing as a politician, not just in our country, but in the entire world — has (once again) proposed re-instituting a military draft.
As chairman of the powerful Ways and Means committee, Charlie was supposed to know better. Perhaps he did, and that’s why he thought he could get away with it.
