And seeing Lance finish the Nike Human Race (10K) last week (finishing 6th in Austin out of nearly 15K runners in a little under 35 minutes) — it’s obvious that Lance is still training hard and enjoying competing.
Although, I’m sure if you took the world’s greatest marathon runners and asked them to complete a mountain stage of the Tour de France, they would probably say the same thing about cycling (actually, few would probably even be able to complete the stage, and even fewer would be able to do it with an hour of Lance’s typical winning times).
With a win in yesterday’s game, Tom Brady helped improve the Patriot’s record to a very pedestrian 7-5. Lance’s win in the Tour De France this year made him 7-0 over the last seven years in the most grueling and difficult race in the world.
Ullrich is now 101 seconds behind Lance. With the mountain stages to come, that lead may prove to be insurmountable. Barring a ride ending crash or injury, I can’t see how Lance can be stopped in his final ride through France.
