Go read the whole thing, and be grateful this Memorial Day weekend, not just for the troops who have died so that we might live free — but to those like the Arlington Ladies who support them.

 

William Crawford passed away in 2000. He is the only U.S. Army veteran and sole Medal of Honor winner to be buried in the cemetery of the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Compared to all of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice defending their country, my own service feels immeasurably inadequate. I am humbled and forever grateful for their service and their sacrifice.

 

But in the 9 years that Google has been creating special logos — not once have they thought to pay tribute to our Nation’s fallen heroes.

There are thousands upon thousands of stories like the Golczynski family. But I think their’s does a commendable job of reminding us of what our soldiers fight for, and what they leave behind. And the incredible heroism and sacrifice made by all of them.

 

As a combat veteran who will be riding in a Memorial Day parade, I can tell you that nothing could be more inappropriate and unappreciated by troops and Veterans at Memorial Day parades than anti-war posters and protesters.
