I joined about 30 fellow Central Texas Patriot Guard Riders at the Atlantic Aviation terminal at ABIA airport to help welcome home this fallen hero, to stand in support of his mission, his sacrifice, and to show our respects to his family.

It will be an honor to ride with my fellow PGR riders and to stand to honor Mr. Hunter, who has spent nearly his entire life in service to his country.

I just received noticed that the Central Texas Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by LTC Hicks, the Commander of North Fort Hood, to welcome returning Soldiers from Main Post after the Memorial Service

Cody was a typical small town, rural Texas boy. He loved, beyond all things, his pick up truck. He loved to hunt and fish with his high school buddies, with whom he spent summers baling and stacking hay for extra money. He played sports and was active in the FFA. According to his mom, he was the kind of kid who could (and did) drive the wheels off of a Mule.

It’s been nearly 70 days since General McChrystal asked President Obama for more troops in Afghanistan. While the President dithers on a decision, Marines and Soldiers continue to die at the highest rate in years.

Yesterday afternoon, I rode with 119 other PGR riders and numerous cages to attend the funeral of SGT Green in Yorktown, and was once again blown away by the patriotism, respect, and moral values of another small-town Texas community.

On the day where our Nation stops, stands still, and remembers those who were murdered by Islamic jihadist on September 11, 2001 — a small-town Texas family will stand silently on a tarmac at a small country airport landing strip in College Station, Texas and wait for their father/husband/son to come home from Afghanistan in a flag-draped coffin.

Just before we got into Dripping Springs, I started to see small pockets of people — families mostly — lined up on the side of the road. All flying flags. I began to wonder if someone in the area had gotten word out that the funeral of a Fallen Hero was coming through their town.

SPC Farris will be returned to Texas at Austin Bergstrom International Airport sometime on Thursday, 16 July. The PGR will be involved in this mission to welcome him home and to escort him and his family to the funeral home.

So, while the rest of the world mourns Fawcett and Jackson, you’ll have to excuse me while I save my mourning for a fellow Soldier, a native Texan, and a true American hero in Sgt. Soto.

My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of SGT Matthew Thomas. Matthew, thank you for standing for our country and defending our freedoms and interests. Rest in peace Soldier. I salute you.

Meyer was an all-American kind of kid — a star baseball player, a good student (he was studying Biology at Concordia University in Irvine), the son of a Lutheran preacher. He was deeply religious and deeply patriotic
